A Parish Dialogue on Racial Injustice

Thursday, June 18 at 7:00 PM
Facilitated via Zoom

to register for this gathering
In solidarity with one another and with those who are oppressed, you are invited to a Town Hall dialogue on Racial Justice.
Our gathering will bring us together, united in faith and justice. Grounded in prayer, we will listen and learn about what our faith teaches about racism and the ways that each of us is called by the Spirit to respond to and address the current situation.
Bishop Mark Seitz reflects:
Today, we meet Jesus in those tear-gassed, tased, strangled and snuffed out. That's the reason why the church teaches a preferential option for the poor. And why the church stands up for life wherever and whenever it is devalued and threatened.
To say, as all who eat from the table of the Eucharist should be able to say, that black lives matter is just another way of repeating something we in the United States seem to so often forget, that God has a special love for the forgotten and oppressed.
We are all called to live our faith through learning, prayer, and action. May we come together to strive to bring to fulfillment the Reign of God rooted in justice and peace.

Annual Catholic Appeal: Progress Report
|
|
A huge
thank you
to all who have made their gift to the Annual Catholic Appeal. Since we launched the Appeal three weeks ago, we have received 308 pledges totaling $278,000—which is quite amazing! However, we still have a long way to go.
The Archbishop’s goal for this year’s Appeal is $12 million and, of this amount, St. James Cathedral is being asked to raise $371,288. Everything given over and above that goal will come back to the parish for our own parish needs.
This year we intend to use the rebate to help offset the losses we have experienced as a result of the suspension of public Masses.
We have set our rebate goal at $200,000, which will cover part of that loss while bringing our total goal for the 2020 Appeal to $571,288.
Please note that the online giving page does not always work with Microsoft Edge, so please try another browser if you have difficulties processing a gift.
