Take another look at the Catholic Church
|
|
|
This is an opportunity, while we all shelter in place, to gather with other Catholics who have been away from active participation in the Church. These sessions will offer opportunity to experience community, to learn about changes to the Church, ask questions, and perhaps to once again become part of your faith community.
Six sessions, beginning Monday, May 11 and running Monday evenings through June 15, from 6:30-8:00 pm
on Zoom

Catholic Community Services/Catholic Housing Services (CCS/CHS) are inviting St. James Cathedral parishioners to help those in need.
CCS/CHS has asked the Cathedral to provide meals for their day centers and shelters.
Both hot casseroles and cold sandwiches are greatly appreciated. In addition, toiletries (toothpaste, toothbrushes, soaps and shampoos, feminine hygiene products), women’s and children’s underwear, and bath towels are also needed. Please coordinate with Patrick Barredo (
pbarredo@stjames-cathedral.org
).
Many CCS/CHS shelter clients have been placed in hotels for positive isolation
, and are asking for these items: canned ready-to-eat meals (i.e. soup or chili), cup of noodles, easy mac, K-cup coffee, cocoa and tea, individual servings of chips, crackers, granola bars and cereals. Please deliver to CCS (100-23
rd
Ave South in Seattle) or coordinate with Patrick B
arredo (
pbarredo@stjames-cathedral.org
).
The St. Martin de Porres men’s shelter needs volunteers to prepare meals in their kitchen.
If you’re interested, contact Jeff Cathey, the Operations Supervisor at St. Martin de Porres (206.323.6341 or
jefferyc@ccsww.org
).
These are difficult times we live in. Any meal support you can provide for those experiencing homelessness is greatly appreciated.
However, please do observe our state’s directive to stay in your home, especially if you or anyone in your household is in a high-risk group.

Call for homemade face masks
|
|
Do you sew? You are invited to consider sewing protective masks to help those who are serving others during the coronavirus outbreak. Catholic Community Services is in immediate need of masks to protect both staff and clients in the weeks ahead, and the Cathedral Kitchen will have need of masks when the kitchen reopens. Masks can be dropped off at the parish office on Tuesdays between 9am-11am.
