Valhalla 55

The V-55 sets standards for center consoles larger than 50 feet in all aspects, and in this V Report we zero in on our new flagship’s accommodations. One of the keys to the boat’s world-class livability is its massive 15-foot, 6-inch beam, which supplies invaluable interior volume. The other is Viking’s nearly 60 years of experience designing and building luxurious living spaces for its yachts. “We were able to provide accommodations that we believe are better than any other center console from 50 to 60 feet and rival those of 60-plus-foot models,” says Viking Design Manager David Wilson.

“Having a dedicated private owner’s stateroom forward – complete with its own head and shower – was critical for us,” adds David.

A pocket door that slides inside the starboard bulkhead maximizes space while providing privacy. The stateroom’s separate enclosed shower is on the starboard side (above), while the ensuite head resides on the portside (below). The layout also makes the head accessible from the cabin via a port-side door just aft of the stateroom.

“We also wanted a second sleeping area, which we’ve provided with the two bunks aft,” says David. “And in between these two areas, you have a full galley and a dinette.”

The cabin has ample headroom, with a feature-rich galley to starboard and an L-shaped lounge to port. The dinette table drops down for conversion into a bunk. A standard 32-inch HD TV faces the dinette.

Like the Valhalla 46, the V-55’s cabin is designed and engineered with a machinery room. The space on the V-55 is located aft of the bunks and contains major electrical, mechanical and plumbing components such as the 15kW generator, batteries, water heater as well as optional systems normally found on inboard-powered sportfishing yachts, including water makers and space for an omnidirectional sonar tube.
