I am writing this from Bilbao, Spain. Tomorrow, I will warmly welcome nine Walking Connection guests, ready to embark on an unforgettable 11-day trek along the historic Camino de Santiago. This adventure is just the beginning, as I have an exciting travel industry event waiting for me in Seville, where I will engage in 45 meetings over the course of three days.
After the event, I will return to Bilbao, greeting fourteen more guests. This time, a private group from the Desert Mountain community in northern Scottsdale. Together, we will embark on an eleven-day expedition along a path that has enchanted travelers for centuries.
As I diligently prepared for this 32-day journey - meticulously triple-checking details for both groups, juggling calls, texts, and emails, staying ahead of office work, and (over) packing. (Have I ever mentioned that I hate packing? I have done it a thousand times. This time my suitcase needed to include hiking gear, business attire, AND evening "dress up" styles for the Seville event. Hikers and heels - oh my!)
Anyway, I was feeling a bit overwhelmed. What was I thinking when I planned this crazy schedule? And for a moment, I was wishing myself back home again one month and two days from now.
In the midst of my momentary doubt, I recalled a friend's wise words:
'Never wish your life away.'
Yes, travel can sometimes be overwhelming, but simultaneously, it is exhilarating, rewarding, and even transformational. Travel is a collection of extraordinary moments, and as I reflect on the days ahead, I plan on living in each and every one.
