Campus News
Our 10th annual Clarke Day event is in full swing. We celebrate and support our mission every day, but this event is especially enjoyable. From the animated alumni social last night at Darkbird Tap House, to the wonderful stories and photos that have poured in on social media, to the large number of donations coming in, it is clear that the Clarke experience is impactful. Thank you for sharing and spreading the word about the difference a Clarke education makes!
The momentum of Clarke Day carries into upcoming activities on campus, including our Camps for K-12 students. The first camp of the season kicks off Saturday, March 30 with our Cheer and Dance team, and more than 70 children are already registered! Click here to see the full list of athletics, literacy, nursing & wellness, music and other camps.
Other upcoming campus events include performances of The Taming of the Shrew this Friday and Saturday, guest speakers for our Future Young Professionals Club and the Mackin-Mailander Lecture series, the Celebration of Student, Faculty and Staff Scholarship event, and the perennial favorite, Musical Menus. Be sure to check the campus calendar often for more upcoming events.
We also continue to live our mission by contributing to the common good. For example, following a year of designing, planning, and community-wide collaborating, students and faculty from the Art + Design department completed a series of murals for the Crescent Community Health Center.
Strategic Plan Update
On March 19, Clarke employees gathered to celebrate our reaffirmation from the Higher Learning Commission with an afternoon social. While this event recognized the hard work completed over the past year, it also served as an opportunity to motivate and energize as we work toward the goals outlined in our strategic plan.
The Mary Jo Marketplace, which I mentioned in Volume 18 of my updates and was recently launched as a result of our strategic plan, is a resounding success. We are pleased to be able to offer this resource on our campus.
As a result of other strategic plan initiatives, we have updated our Student Support Network system and initial feedback is positive. In addition, we are closing in on hiring two professional academic advisors, we will launch an enhanced textbook-provider structure this summer, and we have developed and are implementing a comprehensive process to transition to a streamlined instructional technology system that effectively and efficiently meets the needs our students and faculty.
Clearly our strategic plan is in motion, and the Strategic Planning Committee continues to meet bi-weekly. Their diligent work is appreciated by all!
