Our campus’s beautiful and vibrant tree leaves usher in fall, and the Clarke community continues its momentum into midterm time.

Since the last update, we have celebrated Homecoming—a weekend full of athletic and social events, smiles and the creation of new memories.
The first week of October was lively as well. We hosted our bi-annual Focus, Learn, and Engage Day for students, faculty, and staff; welcomed Chiara Cirelli, MD, Ph.D. to present “The Burden of Wake and the Reasons for Sleep” in Jansen Music Hall; and celebrated the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi—a saint long-connected to Mary Frances Clarke, who served as foundress and leader of the BVM congregation that established Clarke University. In fact, in August 1984, she was inducted into the Iowa Women’s Hall of Fame for her ground-breaking role in education and religious formation on the US frontier.
Strategic Plan Update
I’m pleased to share that our Strategic Plan 2023-2026 and the goals and objectives that will guide its implementation have been finalized. We publicly launched them during Homecoming weekend, and a positive buzz surrounds us as we begin the implementation phase.
Living our Legacy Spotlight
This section of my bi-weekly update is new and will be a regular feature. This spotlight is another way for Clarke community members to be in-the-know about the wonderful people with whom we work and how they live our legacy. Living our legacy stems from our mission:
