Letter from the Pastor:
Necessity is truly the mother of invention.
Palm Sunday of 2010 Living Water was almost two years old and we were breaking in our second rental building in as many years. That cool Spring morning our small but faithful group piled inside, handed out palms, read the processional gospel and the children’s processional march of palms began.
Leading the parade, immediately I realized there was one detail I’d neglected to anticipate: where we’d march! The small structure worked just fine for worship & our small JAM classes, but one can only expect so much out of a 20 X 40 stick frame building. Enter necessity: out the door we went! I don’t know who was giggling & laughing more that day, the families inside or the kids outside.
Church, the Holy Spirit is telling us loud & clear: it’s time for some new creative thinking. Even though we are separated physically, God is calling us to come together virtually in ways we never imagined.
JAM parents - what creative and imaginative children you have. Thank you! As I write this, all the videos you sent our way are being linked together into one long, beautiful, virtual procession that will be played on our LiveStream worship this weekend while the Worship Team hails the entry of our King.
And the inventing doesn’t stop there. Sunday morning we step into Holy Week and with it, some brand new attempts at virtually walking as church with Jesus to the garden of betrayal and hill of crucifixion, leading to the big surprise of Easter Sunday. Church, the creative, life-giving Spirit of Jesus is moving among us and I can’t wait to see how it grows our faith & strengthens our witness during this greatest and holiest of weeks.
Living for Jesus!
