This week, WGBH featured an important and informative segment on safe sunscreen usage.
"Summer vacation. Those two words conjure up images of long, sunny days at the beach or by the pool, and that means sunscreen. But which sunscreen to choose?
There are a lot of options, and there's a lot of conflicting information about which are best for you and the environment."
Recommendations:
- Use broad-spectrum sunscreen that protects against both UV-A and UV-B rays.
- Use sunscreens with mineral active ingredients, like zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, instead of chemical active ingredients.
- Use lotion sunscreens, not spray.
- Avoid sunscreens with vitamin A.
