  Small Groups

The Academy—Old Testament

June 9, 16, 23 & 30 6pm via Zoom

The Old Testament can seem intimidating but in this class you will find the rich history and faith of God’s people which ultimately point directly to Jesus the promised Messiah. Topics: “The Pentateuch”, “The Histories”, “The Psalms” and “The Prophets.” Facilitated by Dawn Lewellen and pre-recorded by Pastor Malinak.

 LiFT (Ladies in Faith Together)

Summer Study

Tuesdays at 9 am, June 16-August 4

Our study is Mothers and Daughters of the Bible. God uses mothers and daughters in critical roles throughout the Old and New Testaments. We will see how these relationships and roles reveal a deeper depth of God’s love for and faithfulness to each of us.

Read Through the Bible

June 15-August 31

This summer, we will once again read through the entire Bible! Participants will receive a reading plan that takes them through scripture in three months. This year you have the option of studying alone or in a small group.

LiFT Prayer Journal

During January’s LiFT Tea, the latest version of our prayer journal was presented. This journal focuses on deepening our insight into the “5 Keys to Prayer.” There are new daily devotions and other activities to engage us in prayer. If you are interested in receiving the latest version, stop by the information desk in the extended narthex.

Save the Date!

We are planning an “Everything Is Free” event on July 25 in the Family Life Center, and it will be open to the public. Our hope is to bless those in our community who may be struggling financially or have experienced a disaster whereby they have nothing. In the coming months, if you come across items you no longer need, please consider setting them aside to donate. We will be collecting clothing (men’s, women’s, and children’s), kitchen and household items, children’s toys, furniture, electronic items (in working condition), and tools/garage items. Items can be dropped off at church July 22-24. We will also need a small army of volunteers to help make this event a success! Contact Steve Burke for more information at steve@lwlc.com.

Quilting Group

Did you know quilters call in-progress quilts “quilt sandwiches”? Each has a top, middle, and back. Right now, the LWLC Quilters need “middles,” and flat bed sheets work perfectly for this! Cotton or cotton/poly flat sheets (any color) can be repurposed into the middle layer of quilts that travel the world to provide warmth, shelter, or even carry-all. Flannel is fine, too—but satin and knit sheets are too slippery. If you have extra sheets in good condition at home or find them at a yard sale, please consider donating them. The Quilters thank you for your generosity!

Recent Google Review for Love One Another Preschool

We have been so impressed with the love and attention they have given to our daughter. It’s so nice they have plenty of room for the kids since they use the entire church for preschool. It’s a wonderful mission that the church provides for those in the community since it’s free. I thought there would be a “catch” but there hasn’t and it’s been a wonderful experience for us all!

Did You Know...?

Living Word donated 30 backpacks filled with essential items for children rescued throughTraffick911. These backpacks will be given to children as they are rescued from trafficking situations. We continue to pray for these children and for the important ministry and care provided through Traffick911.
