Employee Shout Out

Raynham Athletic Club (RAC) wants to make a special shout out to some special RAC team members:
"Thank you for your dedicated time and service here at the RAC!!!!! We wish you guys much joy & happiness as you begin a new chapter in your life. All your hard work has paid off! Congratulations on your new jobs!!!! We will miss you Danielle and Kira!!"

The Raynham Athletic Club, a family-friendly workout facility, was excited to reopen on July 6th. Members have enjoyed accessing the 40 Group Exercise Classes, Weight Room, Cardio Room, Pool, Personal Training, and Childcare. In order to be safe and healthy for both employees and members of the Raynham Athletic Club a Reopening Plan was put in place. The plan contains critical information, policies, and procedures that minimize risk and maximize safety. This helps ensure that all staff and members can exercise and improve their mental health and well-being safely. Some precautions that the RAC put in place were: extensive cleaning of every room daily, online class enrollment sign-ups for classes and reduced class sizes, plastic barriers between cardio equipment to effectively block respiration from someone using the cardio equipment, and indoor and outdoor classes. The pool is open for individual lap swim, aqua classes, and family swim. All members must wear a mask throughout the facility and may only take off the mask while exercising.

The precautions have been welcomed because members and staff recognize that for Raynahm Athletic Club to remain open everyone must be safe. For more information: 508-823-5440 raynhamathleticclub.com

Historical Tidbit:
The First South School

"On March 21, 1931, the town meeting voted to have a committee bring in plans and specifications for a four-room school for south Raynham to replace the large wood-framed school. On April 25, 1931, it was voted to construct the building at a cost of $29,000. There are now six classrooms. One unique factor in the
construction of South School was that one section of the main floor was movable and could be raised or lowered, similar to the stage at Radio City Music Hall in New York. However, the floor has been stationed and secured at one level for many years. Miss J. B. Goodick, long-time South School principal, was an example of the finest teachers of her time."

Appreciation Post

Karen Lee wanted to say thank you to the Bridgewater - Raynham School District, school committee, teachers, staff, Superintendent Derek Swenson and the reopening committee! She's sure this wasn’t an easy task and she's sure not everyone is happy but ultimately you are trying your best in unprecedented times, allowing parents/guardians options that are better suited for them as we know nothing in COVID times is “best.” Thank you for your time & commitment and please know you are appreciated.

Mondays 9/28/2020 - 11/09/2020
4:30p - 6:00p
Virtual Learning

Program by Raynham Park and Recreation
Grades 3-6

In this problem-solving class, students design their own house and business within a virtual city as they learn about budgeting, profit and loss, supply and demand and consumer markets. As they serve on a city council they must problem-solve, study how laws are made and work together to create their own constitution; Additionally they will also need to respond to natural disasters and address other challenging city issues.

Students will learn economics and civics as they work together to create a city within a virtual Minecraft type world. While certainly a fun game, Minecraft is also a limitless platform for students to learn academic skills in a highly engaging virtual environment. STEM learning has never been so fun!

IMPORTANT PROGRAM INFORMATION
  • This class will take place online and will use two programs, Zoom and Minetest.
  • Zoom is an online classroom that is very easy to use.
  • Right Brain Curriculum will be hosting and teaching the class and they will send a Zoom ID number with a code to join the meetings.
  • They will use a public domain version of Minecraft called Minetest.
  • Right Brain Curriculum will also send out detailed instructions and links to a tutorial on how to download and install the program.
  • A PC or Mac laptop is needed for Minetest, Chromebooks and tablets are generally not compatible.

Images with landscape orientation work the best. We are looking for seasonal images, so don't forget to submit that lovely snowscape you took in February or the fall foliage river-scape you shot last October. (We tend to get most of summer shots. So if you want to increase your odds of having an image selected, send shots of all four seasons!)

"How do I live my Best Life?

“There is no greater gift you can give or receive than to honor your calling. It’s why you were born. And how you become most truly alive.”
~ Oprah Winfrey

“We can’t save the world by playing by the rules, because the rules have to be changed.”
~ Greta Thunberg

“Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly.” ~ Robert F. Kennedy

“You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.” ~ Joe Lewis

“The purpose of life, after all, is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.” ~ Eleanor Roosevelt
Sometimes I think giving myself time to journal pondering: "Why did I spend this glorious day in bed? " wastes way too much time.
But then I remember the days I wasted unhappy, without money or options, feeling unloved, and I know, this is much better, to let myself feel those emotions, journal them, understand them and be able to re-frame the narrative if necessary. Ignoring and burying does not make my best life, it makes no-one happy, or productive, especially me.
I wish you all a fabulous week. Loving yourself, giving yourself the time you need, and living your best life. ~ Jacquie
