Living into Community
Dr. Christine Pohl, Associate Provost and Professor of Christian Ethics and Church Society at Asbury Theological Seminary, has conducted extensive research for more than two decades about the core practices needed for a vibrant community.

She is the author of Living into Community: Cultivating Practices that Sustain Us and will bring her research to Lakeside from Aug. 14-18 to have an open dialogue with members of our Chautauqua community. She will also lecture at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15 in Hoover Auditorium.

Narrowing in on the most important aspects, Dr. Pohl discovers the four practices of community are hospitality, promise-keeping, truthfulness and gratitude.

The Board did authorize additional spending for the purpose of funding preliminary work necessary for the Pool & Wellness Center. The Board has not made any final decision about moving forward.

Preacher of the Week: Dr. Christine Pohl
Many of us long for a sense of community - a place where people know and welcome us.

Is Lakeside just a place to vacation? Or is Lakeside a community where people find belonging?

As Preacher of the Week, Dr. Christine Pohl, Associate Provost and Professor of Christian Ethics and Church in Society at Asbury Theological Seminary, will lead us in a dialogue this week by drawing on her research of community and relating it to Lakeside.

Dr. Pohl earned her Bachelor of Science from Syracuse University, her Master of Arts in theological studies from Cordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and her Doctorate in ethics and society from Emory University.
