FINGER LAKES FIBER FESTIVAL 
September 16 & 17, 10 AM - 5 PM
Hemlock Fair Grounds

The Finger Lakes Fiber Festival provides a venue for the public to learn about and interact with the fiber arts world. This festival features great vendors, with everything you need for fiber arts: raw fleece, roving, spinning supplies, needle felting supplies, dyes, yarns, items needed to knit, crochet, weave-and more!

GENESEO AUTUMN WING FEST
September 23, 12 PM - 3 PM
Downtown Geneseo
 
For the third year, the Association for the Preservation of Geneseo hosts this fun filled day of chicken wings, live entertainment and autumn - themed activities! Tickets cost $10 in advance, $15 the day of and can be bought online (to sample wings from each restaurant) .

GENESEE VALLEY HUNT PARADE & OPENING OF THE HUNT
September 23, 7:30 AM
Downtown Geneseo


The Opening Meet marks the beginning of the formal foxhunting season. Hounds, staff and subscribers traditionally ride up Geneseo's Main Street at 7:30 AM from the Wadsworth Homestead to the Hartford House at the north end, and off into the countryside from there. The sight of so many riders of all ages and sound of so many hooves on the pavement are stirring.

MARKET ON MAIN 
Market on Main officially opens its doors on Tuesday, September 12th with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10am. What started out as a hobby for life-long Geneseo resident and owner Meghan Bucci is now her passion. The goal is to provide shoppers in Geneseo and the surrounding area with unique and affordable gifts and decor items without having to drive to Rochester. They will even create custom gift baskets for any occasion. Shoppers will be excited about the great selection of items offered at this one-of-kind gift shop at 45 Main Street. Items include jewelry, beauty essentials, baby gifts, handbags, home decor, gifts for men and so much more. Check out the Market on Main Facebook page and website for all the latest products.

Livingston County Chamber of Commerce

The Livingston County Chamber of Commerce is having their annual neighborhood Block Party on Millennium Drive in Geneseo. Joined by their neighbors with open houses, family friendly fun activities, raffle basket giveaways, food for purchase by local food truck vendors & more! During the Block Party, the Chamber of Commerce will be announcing the 2017 winners of the Business in Excellence Awards.

PULITZER PRIZE-WINNING AUTHOR HEATHER ANN THOMPSON LECTURE
September 13, 7 PM
Newton Hall, SUNY Geneseo

 Pulitzer Prize-winning author and historian Heather Ann Thompson will deliver a lecture on the Attica Prison uprising of 1971. Her talk, "The Attica Prison Uprising and Why It Matters Today," will occur on the 46th anniversary of the uprising, Wednesday, Sept. 13, 7 p.m. in Newton Hall, Room 202, on the SUNY Geneseo campus. The talk is free and open to the public. A book signing and reception will follow.

BIG TREE WALK
September 17, 2 PM
  Big Tree Lane, Geneseo

You are invited to walk to the site where the Big Tree once stood.  220 years after the signing of the Big Tree Treaty and 160 years after the fall of the Big Tree, visit the Big Tree site to learn about the tree, treaty, and hear about efforts underway to preserve the last remaining section of the Big Tree so future generations can see and learn about this important part of history at the museum.

NATIONAL CHILD SAFETY PASSENGER SEAT SATURDAY

Noyes Memorial Hospital

This Event is held for parents and caregivers to receive information and hands-on assistance in the proper use of child safety restraint systems and seat belts based on the height and weight of the child. County parents/caregivers who qualify for WIC can receive a car seat at no charge. Limited seats are available. Must be a Livingston County resident.

This fundraiser is in honor of Ruth H. Boyd who lost her battle to ovarian cancer. Fundraising is currently being held in September every year in the form of a chicken BBQ and silent auction in York. Funds raised are donated to research organizations looking for ways to detect and cure ovarian cancer.

CASA-TRINITY RUN 4 RECOVERY 5K

The 1st Annual CASA-Trinity of Livingston County Run 4 Recovery 5k Run/Walk will take a path through the village of Dansville and end at the Dansville Community Center where a day-long Recovery Celebration is being held. Registration fee is $15.00 for adults and $10.00 for children 12 and under. Each participant will receive a free commemorative t-shirt. Proceeds go to CASA-Trinity to support treatment and prevention efforts.
