Wow. Another success story in our hometown. Wow.

Put those hands together and give yourself a round of applause. Or better yet stand up and give yourself a standing ovation.

Livonia excelled. Reached for the mountain top. Put it in sight. Climbed all the way up and now deserve to smile. Debra Bonde, Karen Smith, and all the volunteers and staff members are shouting out, "THANK YOU, Seedlings' auction donors and bidders!!! We raised an AMAZING $20,000 during our third annual online auction ending Nov. 14.

"That was $2,000 OVER our goal of $18,000. Thanks to you, we will be able to place 2,000 MORE braille books into the hands of children with vision loss. They are the real auction winners!! And YOU made that possible!"

But once again Livonia you outbid me on every item I bid on. Every year. Every time.

Take a bow Livonia. Or better yet join in with the smiles and applause.
Turn off the computer and get it on with personal conversation at "Offline Discussions"
During the recent state and federal election season Haithum Fakhouri, Bold Media. lamented the lack of real discussions on facebook about issues and candidates. A proposal came about to have some face-to-face time with what he called an offline discussion.

"Offline Discussions" offers local citizens the ability to engage in political and social conversation without technological barriers. Fakhouri describes it as hoping T"that through personal interaction, people of all backgrounds can sit and discuss hot topic issues in a respectful manner."

The chats will be loosely moderated to keep the conversation on focus but each meeting is a life of its own. All political, economic, ethnic and religious backgrounds are welcome.

"We held our first meeting of "Offline Discussions" and it was a massive success. A group of individuals from different ethnic and political backgrounds met for 2 hours to discuss political topics without belittling or demeaning one another. I'm thankful for all who showed up and look forward to our next meeting on Tuesday, December 11."

Get rid of the keyboards and gr ab a drink and chat. Invite your friends!  What's not allowed:  Personal attacks against members or political figures,  Bullying, Hate speech.

The typewriter had hoped to attend but was recovering from his ill-fated attempt at showboat dancing at the Livonia Symphony Orchestra annual dinner. No more dancing but lots more talking.

See you all at the Claddaugh on December 11.

There are times when we take for granted all that our hometown offers. Just how stable our community is and has been over the years. So here is a hats off at Thanksgiving to those elected officials who  are giving their time to serve Livonia.

To start let's wish a Happy Thanksgiving and community thank you to our Livonia School Board and Livonia City Council:
