I'm wishing a happy and healthy Hanukkah to all those who celebrate. December 2 - December 10.
A Livonia Christmas has it all.

What other hometown can you have partnerships like we find in our Livonia cultural community?

This upcoming weekend we have the Livonia Symphony Orchestra partnering with the Livonia Youth Symphony and the Angie Hahn Academy of Dance with hometown rock favorite Steve King narrating.

Follow that up the next weekend with the Livonia Civic Chorus partnering with 70 volunteer singers while presenting a scholarship to a Madonna University student before an audience of 700 hometown, downtown Livonia Christmas music lovers.

Why leave home to celebrate Christmas when we all know that Christmas in Livonia brings it all home.

Great Cause Seeking New Board Members

It's going to be that time of year again. That time of year when you make a New Year's Resolution to "get more involved".  Just ask Robb Drzewicki who "As a person actively involved in the community, I applaud your decision to engage your fellow human in acts of kindness, advocacy, and charity.

"If it just so happens that you've got an interest in helping some of the most vulnerable individuals in Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb Counties, I might be able to help you decide how you'll get more involved."

Friends of Community Living Services is looking for a few new members for its Board of Directors. "Friends"
is the charitable partner of Community Living Services (the 2nd largest nonprofit in the state) and helps support individuals with disabilities in paying for things that state and county funds don't cover. Livonia happens to be home to a large number of individuals that we serve. These are often our friends and colleagues, our neighbors and family.

CLS has been providing supports and services for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities for decades. Their Supports Coordinators are on the front lines every day, accessing resources in communities, helping find employment and volunteer opportunities and working toward a future of independence and freedom for those that they serve.

"There is a paradigm shift in the way individuals with disabilities and mental illness are supported. Get in at the highest levels and learn while making a difference."

Another reason Livonia is such a unique place to call our hometown. Something new.

Jamie Gindele (Hopp):  So happy to hear your news! We have 3, grandsons 10&7 and granddaughter 20 mo. Our son was just married so we expect a couple more.

They are so special and how they may remember us is a great question...... For Christmas this year I've made up photo books for each one with special pics of them with us at the zoo, pool, dinner at our house, celebrating holidays, trips to Michigan, family reunions etc. Hope it instills in them a sense of relationship with us. Certainly a plus they live here in town.

Safe travel my friend and make great memories.

Chris Park:  Congratulations on the new arrival! What a fantastic way to celebrate the Holiday. Have a safe trip.

David Stechholz, President Livonia Rotary: Even with rain at the end of the Parade, it was a splendid Christmas Parade. Will Lindley stated it well: "You saw the happiness on the faces of the people lining the Parade route." They were very grateful for the parade participants, candy, well-wishes, the organizers, and this wonderful community of Livonia.

Virginia Bosak, Livonia Arts Commission: Thanks so much, Bill for putting in the Commissioners invitation.  And I am so excited for you to be a Grandpa!!!  Have fun on your trip.

Joe Neussendorfer, Livonia's Town Crier:  The typewriter Hugh Hefner used in college was the top-selling item at an auction of the Playboy magazine founder's possessions.  Julien's Auctions says the Underwood Standard portable typewriter sold for $162,500.

(Joe, I wonder how much I could go for? At least that much.)
