Dan MacIver, F&PA, will be at the Good Old Fashioned Corn Roast distributing the
Bob Hardies Best Kept Secrets of Livonia. Be sure and get yours this Sunday.
Just a few observations on a gorgeous weather weekend from the typewriter as we head into Fall
The typewriter never met Senator Patrick Colbeck in the eight years he served in Lansing. He has now managed to get himself involved in the City of Livonia election with his endorsement of Councilman Scott Bahr and Council challenger Rob Donovic. But hold on a minute it now appears that he has changed his mind and is no longer supporting Donovic because in Donovic's own words sent to the typewriter via email  he "and I disagree on school funding, specifically, the recent school millage-he  felt it best to withdraw his endorsement."

It seems that he draws the line at not making an endorsement of any candidate that supports our public school system.  So the only remaining council candidate he is supporting, at least the only candidate using his name in support, is Scott Bahr.
-----------------------------

The Laura Toy for Mayor headquarters will be hosting a speech by Linda Lee Tarver, president of Republican Women's Federation of Michigan, this Tuesday at 7:00.  Dr. Tarver is a national public speaker having engaged conservative women in Ohio, Illinois, Nevada, and via teleconference across the nation. In her various political roles, Linda Lee has visited 70 of the 83 Michigan counties in support of Republicans. In 2016, Dr. Tarver was selected to serve as Co-Chair for the Trump for Michigan Campaign.
----------------------------

Councilman Scott Bahr seeking re-election has received the endorsement from the Livonia Firefighters Local 1164. In Scott's own words this is what he means to him, "I am honored to have earned theconfidence of the Livonia Firefighters Union, Local #1164. I admire our first responders, and my Council record demonstrates my commitment to equipping our Police and Fire with the resources they need to serve with excellence."
---------------------------
Kudo's to council candidate Jim Davis for his unique approach to campaigning. First he announces the kick off to his campaign at the Wilson Barn, not at a bar which is so typical of candidates. Then he announces the kick off to his general election campaign by hosting another gathering at the Wilson Barn. September 22, 12:00-3:00. Applause is appropriate.

Now he is hosting a morning coffee/discussion at the Blue Plate Diner every Tuesday in September, 7:30 - 9:00 AM. Last week he had councilwoman and candidate for re-election Kathleen McIntyre. As he works his way from 6th in the primary to the top 4 in the general you have to give him credit for
creative retail politics.

See you all this Tuesday as the typewriter will be there at 7:30 to see just how this retail politics works.

-----------------------------
Taking a break from the campaign trail the typewriter stopped by the Clarenceville Education Foundation 4th Annual Golf
Brosnan with Mike Ladwig
Outing at Whispering Willows. Dinner is what attracted me. Well that and I have not missed one golf outing yet. Tin Cup. Got there early and found the staff so
accommodating and pleasant.  With so many TV's it was easy to get caught up on the games as I waited for the golfers to leave the course.

The CEF had 72 golfer, 50 hole sponsors and drum roll please . . . .raised over $10,000. And with the $56,000 already donated back to the classroom by the CEF they continue to set the pace by raising and then spending the money where it is best utilized. The classroom

I had no soon settled in when in walked mayoral candidate Maureen Miller Brosnan, followed by Brandon McCullough coming off the course with his foursome and Rob Donovic arriving in time for dinner. Understand that Jim Davis had participated in the morning as a volunteer with school board member Shari Krazel (first picture from the right below) at registration. Dan MacIver said it best, "It was nice to see Maureen, Brandon, Kathleen, Jim and Rob there in support of our little district with a big heart!"

Big heart nailed it. This is clearly a grass roots, neighborhood, one-on-one Foundation building it one brick at a time. Big Heart nailed it.

And there were the two Board of Education members, also serving on the Foundation Board, helping out with all the preparations for the raffles and after golf fun. Thank you Cindy Immonen and Shari Krazel (second picture from the right below). Eric Ladwig greeted councilwoman Kathleen McIntrye as she arrived. (Third picture from the right below)

Just to make sure that everyone was recognized they awarded the  Toilet bowl to the highest scores, Mark and Pam Brooks.(pictured below) Congratulations. And the winners of the lowest score was  Gary and Dawn Habkirk, Joe Alessandrini, and Cindi Gibson.(also pictured below.

Almost forgot. Spent some time with Maureen Brosnan as we chatted up John Shroud.(pictured below) Seems he is preparing for the Ironman in Tempe, Arizona, November 24th. a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bicycle ride and a marathon 26.22-mile run, raced in that order and without a break. And he had time for golfing?

Congratulations to the oldest school district in the state of Michigan,  Livonia's Clarenceville Public Schools. If this 4th Annual CEF Golf Tournament is any example then they have won over the hearts of our hometown. 72 folks golfing, 50 sponsors of the greens and $10,000 raised to add to the already granted to the classroom teachers, $56,000. Thank you Clarenceville Education Foundation for showing how grassroots organizing can and will result in success.

Thank you Dan MacIver and Brian Mahoney for chairing this project.

Corn Roast plans continue to be unrolled. See you on the 15th of September.  1:00 - 4:00
One picture says it all. Neighbors out for a soon to be Fall afternoon. Meeting new friends. Saying hello to old friends. Enjoying corn on the cob, pulled pork sandwiches, Kona Ice Cream, soda pop. And the best part? Meeting over 25 community groups while enjoying the spontaneous singing by the Livonia Civic Chorus and spontaneous music by the Livonia Youth Symphony.

It will be right here in what we can describe as downtown Livonia right next to the YMCA.
The bodyguard and typewriter look forward to seeing you there.

Livonia Community Good Old Fashioned Corn Roast thanks the community sponsors for joining the Livonia YMCA,  Livonia Parks and Recreation and FridayMusings in bringing Livonia another fun event

October makes for a perfect month for bell, book and candle

Bell, Book and Candle, by John Van Druten, is the story of a modern witch and a book publisher who doesn't believe in witchcraft.  Of course, they are attracted to each other, but is it witchcraft or something much more primal? Does true love triumph over witchcraft, or the other way around?

This performance is October 4-6, 11-13 and 18-20. The box office number is 734-855-4922. Tickets may also be obtained at justgobarefoot.com/tickets.
