March was something of a blur for me... !

I flew down to Miami to continue my work with a favorite client who was recently integrated into a much larger parent company. Here are three key pieces of advice I provide to executives and teams leading through change:

Communicate early and often. Be as specific and transparent as you can. If you can't share certain information right away, provide context and assure your organization that more complete information will follow.

Be honest with yourself. How are you feeling about change? Are you excited, worried, conflicted...? Take a strategic pause from the daily busyness to reflect on the impact these changes are likely to have on you, your team, and perhaps your family too.

Control. Influence. Accept and Adapt. If you are spending precious time and effort (not to mention emotion) on things over with you have no control... stop wasting your energy. Instead: influence what you can, and identify ways you can successfully adapt to those things over which you have neither influence nor direct control. Find out more about my CIA tool.

I spent a week in NYC mid-March working on my business. I had a wonderful couple of days catching up with my colleagues in my Growth Cycle mastermind group.

I also spent a few days with Alan Weiss and an amazing group of international consultants at the Million Dollar Consulting Hall of Fame.

These events gave me lots to think about. In fact, I filled a notebook with ideas, and now I have over 100 new ideas I could implement for my business and life strategy! I know I can't do them all. I need to select the one thing and then execute on that, then I can move on to the next. This is exactly what I advise my executive clients to do. Pick your top priority, do it well, then move on to the next...

It's always fun to glam up, get out of the office, make friends, and build connections. I enjoyed time at two galas in March. The Congreso Gala and The Garces Foundation Gala . I also managed to fit time in to visit to the Kimmel Center for performing arts to see Miss Saigon with my Anna and catch Jonathan's Youth Orchestra concert featuring Philadelphia Orchestra's own Tony Prisk!

...and April is jammed too!

Here are my crazy next weeks: I went to NYC again April 2nd for the MedExecWomen inaugural event, where I spoke on Slowing Down to Speed Up: The Key to Unstoppable Growth in a Complex World. It was fantastic and I was so pleased the audience enjoyed and learned from me!

This week, I’m in DC and Philadelphia for talks at the Million Dollar Consulting Convention and I'll be keynoting at the AIIP Annual Conference. You can come along to see me speak. At the weekend I'll host family for the holidays. Then to the NY auto show with Jonathan the last Saturday of the month!

It’ll be a BLUR! But all great stuff, blending business and life into a very full calendar and a rewarding life. If you've become a blur to your organization, on the other hand, it may be time to slow down, build in some strategic pauses , and connect with important stakeholders. If you're going too fast, those relationships may suffer and you may find it more difficult to get things done.
