Liz Bywater's Summer Leadership Roundup

Are you taking enough strategic pauses to drive innovation and growth?
|
|
I am writing to you on an usually cool August morning, and Fall is very much in the air. It is an exciting time for me, with an upcoming trip to Dubrovnik, exciting projects launching with some of my most innovative, growth-minded clients, and the kids heading back to school!
Here are a few notes from my summer adventures, links to some of my recent posts, and a reminder to wind down the calendar year refreshed and future-focused, determined to succeed but without the typical end-of-year dash.
In July, I took a wonderful trip to Sonoma Valley to celebrate my brother's birthday (photos below). Not only was it a strategic pause from the business of running my business but an opportunity to gain insight into the wine industry, history of the region, innovative approaches to a challenging business... all the while, enjoying the phenomenal food and wine of the area.
I also took a pause to sit down with my long time mentor, Alan Weiss, and wonderful colleagues, Suzanne Bates, Guido Quelle, and Steven Gaffney, to develop some exciting new offerings for my executive clients. I am working with one of my all-time best clients on building out an amazing CEO peer group for the new year. Keep your eyes open for details, and let me know if you would like to join us!
To your continued success!
Dr. Liz

Slowing down, taking a pause, getting inspired

I had an incredible week in Providence with exceptional colleagues and fellow members of the Global Growth Group, affectionately known as 'The Divas'. Tremendous business insights, amazing dinners, working amid the wildlife on Alan's property (they seem to enjoy my car!). I also made the time to take a stroll around Brown's lovely campus, reminds me of my alma mater,

With Jonathan, I saw The Empire Strikes Back with the Philadelphia Orchestra at the Mann Center. Fantastic! So many iconic scenes and the orchestra was phenomenal. The crowd loved it!

In November, I will be speaking at the Young Professionals Summit. I'll be
debunking the myth that success lies in doing more, going faster, being everywhere, or taking on every new opportunity.
