LoHi Trek FAQs:
How much does it cost? $300 plus the EventBrite fee for registering (about $22). If this is unaffordable to you, reach out to inquire about a partial scholarship.
Can I bring my dog? No.
Will you ever plan a hike that includes dogs? Yes.
I can’t come to the whole thing so can I pay for part of it and just come on the days I’m available? Yes and no. We do not offer a reduced fee for attending a portion of it. But you may register for the whole thing and just come when you are able. This is in part because of the high demand.
Do I have to be in tiptop physical shape to do this? No. We have a lot of support wrapped around this event, and people can opt out halfway through the day to get a ride back to camp.
I have a special diet, so I want to bring my own food. Will you reduce the cost for me because of that? No. We make an effort to meet your dietary needs. You are welcome to bring your own food, but we can’t discount the cost of the trek for that reason.
Do I have to have a tent and other camping gear? Most of our participants do bring their own gear, but we also have a supply ready to loan out.
What happens if I end up not being able to attend? Up until two weeks prior to the event, you can request a full refund with the exception of the Eventbrite fees. After that, it’s on a case by case basis, depending on whether we can fill your spot with someone from the waiting list.
Why does it fill up so fast? Because we are offering VIP access to a landform with celebrity status, the globally unique Loess Hills. We also offer advanced registration to previous Trekkers, so many spots are filled before registration opens to the public.
Why do you call it the LoHi? Because most people we know cannot pronounce the word loess, so we took the first two letters of Loess and the first two letters of Hills and gave it a cool nickname.
How many miles will we hike each day? Something between six and 10.
How are you able to give out scholarships? Because generous people donate money so that those who would otherwise not be able to attend can join us.
