The Mundelein High School Veterans’ Day assembly will be held Friday, Nov. 10, beginning at 8:45 a.m. in the main gym. The school borders are already surrounded by American flags in anticipation of the Friday event.
More than 45 military veterans are scheduled to take part in the ceremony. They will be escorted into the gym by the MHS Drum Line and will have a place of honor.
Following the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem, students will view a video about Veterans Day, hear the wind ensemble play an Armed Forces medley, watch a patriotic video and hear remarks by Korean War and Vietnam Conflict Veteran Colonel Michael Peck, superintendent for the Veterans Assistance Commission of Lake County. The assembly will close with the playing of Taps by the MHS Wind Ensemble.

Fremont Center Road Improvement
|
|
The Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) is currently studying safety improvements to the intersection of Fremont Center Road and IL 60. Through the project study process, it was determined that safety would be improved by realigning Fremont Center Road to intersect IL 60 closer to a 90 degree angle, and include a traditional traffic signal. The intersection will also be widened to include turn lanes for all turning movements. The new Fremont Center Road alignment matches potential future roadway alignments in the area.
This project is about to enter into Phase II engineering, where the design work and right of way acquisition process will take place. The project is estimated to cost $2.5
million for construction, and is currently programmed for 2019

The Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) is currently involved in Phase II engineering for the improvement of the intersection of Gilmer Road and Midlothian Road. A traditional signalized intersection was selected to improve roadway and intersection safety and traffic operation at this location. LCDOT is in the final stage of design and right of way acquisition is underway. The $11.3 million project is programmed for construction in 2020.

Lake County Division of Transportation announced plans are being prepared for a new traffic signal to be installed at the intersection of Wilson Road and Nippersink Road. Motorists can expect to see pre-stage work such as tree removal, erosion control measures, retaining wall preparation and utility relocations happening in 2017. Most of the work to widen the roadway to make way for the new turn lanes and traffic signals will begin in 2018. The project is expected to take a full construction season to complete.
