Turning 65 and own your home?

If you are 65 or older and live in your home as your primary residence, you qualify for the Senior Homestead Exemption, which can help save money on your property tax bill.

Be sure to apply through your local assessor’s office.

Fremont Township residents: Call 847-223-2846 with any questions.

This does not apply to Saddlebrook residents.

Senior Groot Rates

If you turn 65 and are an unincorporated Fremont Township resident with Groot as your waste hauler, make sure you bring your id to our office and we can sign you up for the senior discount.

Park on Park Starts May 13

Park on Park is a popular downtown Mundelein car cruise-night hosted by Mundelein Community Connection. Held the second Wednesday of each month from May through September, the event features classic cars and trucks 25 years and older, along with food, entertainment, and a family-friendly atmosphere that brings the community together.

Bingo Hosted by Mundelein Community Connection

Mundelein Community Connection hosts a monthly adults-only Bingo night on the fourth Monday of each month at the Party Room inside Tighthead Brewery in Mundelein. This fun, social community event brings together friends, neighbors, and coworkers for multiple games of bingo with cash and bonus prizes, and occasionally trivia with giveaways from local Chamber businesses. Food options may be available through caterers, food trucks, or takeout, with beer available for purchase. Proceeds from the event support Mundelein Community Connection and the GLMV Chamber of Commerce, helping fund local community programs. The $5 entry fee includes 2 Bingo Cards. $1 Bingo Cards thereafter.

AARP Defensive Driving Classes at Fremont Township

We still have some openings for the AARP Defensive Driving Course held on Tuesday, May 26 and Wednesday May 27 from 9:00 am til 1:00 pm in the lower level of our building. Call Nancy at 847 223-2847 to register. You must attend both classes. $20 for AARP members $25 for all others.

50 and Older and Looking for Things To Do?

Mundelein Park & Recreation District offers a variety of programs exclusively for ages 50 and over. Programs are held at the Regent Center, a multi-purpose center serving the needs and interests of Mundelein and area residents. Click here for more information.

Recycle Bedding, Shoes, Flags and Eyeglasses in our Shed

Recycling Drop-Off Available

You can recycle the following items in the shed located in our front parking lot:

  • Bedding and pet items (leashes, collars, toys, pet food, etc.) for dogs
  • Shoes
  • Yarn
  • American flags (for proper retirement)
  • Eyeglasses and hearing aids
