Asian Center Celebrates Culture
In 2025, the Asian Community and Cultural Center served over 1,800 newcomers from 42 different countries through one-on-one mentoring and advocacy, youth empowerment, health education, mental health support, English classes, citizenship classes, and so much more.
The Asian Center’s team helps newcomers integrate and acclimate, share their stories and culture, cultivate success, and find belonging.
This year they will again host the Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage event, May 2 and Culture Club for youth, May 26 - 29. New this year is a weekly radio show on KZUM Radio 89.3FM, Cultural Tapestry, which features stories of immigrant neighbors across cultures. Learn more.

Disease "Weather Report"
Nationwide, the number of people with fever, sore throat, or runny nose (collectively known as “influenza-like illnesses”) is nearly back to below the epidemic threshold. In other words, flu season is behind us. A few states are still seeing high levels, but they too are on their way down.
That said, some common colds, as well as the family of RSV viruses, are at their peak. Norovirus (the stomach bug behind diarrhea and vomiting) also continues to climb. The number of people testing positive is within levels seen in previous years, thankfully, lower than last year, when a new strain triggered a notable surge.
Because of spring break travel, we usually see an acceleration of measles case counts in March and April. The latest U.S. tally for 2025 is 1,524 cases. If you're traveling, you may wish to avoid states that are in the middle of outbreaks. Read more.
