Sierra Lutheran High School “Anti-School Days” Begin New School Year |
Sierra Lutheran High School in Carson City, Nevada began their new school this past week with a record enrollment of 162 students, which includes 56 freshmen. To start the year, the staff and students spent two days last week in what Executive Director Patrick Maynard calls “Anti-School Days”. The staff and students spend time in worship and activities that build relationships before a lot of the focus turns to academics and the routine of high school life.
In order to do this, the school brought in Adam Countryman of LCMS Youth Gathering fame and Jonathan Brandenburg from LINC Southern California to lead worship and a spiritual focus to start the new year. The third day, the students had a chapel that included the installation and commissioning of a new teacher, followed by a quick rotation through the students’ scheduled classes, and finally a cook-out with Patrick Maynard doing the grilling! May God bless the ministry of Sierra Lutheran and give them a successful school year!
