Safe Routes to School Spring Walk/Bike-to-School Challenge
The Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program invited area PSD schools to participate in a Walk/Bike-to-School Challenge this spring in the spirit of helping to incorporate more physical exercise into the school day for students, begin a habit of bicycling, and help alleviate congestion at drop-off and pick-up while school bus service is limited. See which schools are participating. READ MORE

The League of American Bicyclists' 2021 virtual National Bike Summit took place earlier this month and Bike Fort Collins was proud to take part in many of the workshops and speakers panels addressing some of the most pressing issues in bicycle advocacy today.

We Asked the Candidates

As we reported in our special issue of this newsletter earlier in the month, elections are right around the corner on April 6. In the event you missed that issue, we asked the candidates questions so you know where they stand on the past-time, the sport, and the transportation mode of bicycling — that is so important to us, and our future, as well as such a part of our city’s identity. READ MORE
International Women's Day: Betty Sears, a Local Legend
International Women's Day was March 8th. In honor of this year’s "Day," we highlight Betty Sears in recognition of her trailblazing initiative to establish the first bike lanes in Fort Collins.
You Know Me. I Ride a Bike. - Peggy Milano

Meet Peggy Milano. While she's one cool lady, she's shy by nature, initially resisting the idea of being featured in a column like this. But she has a commanding presence and simply put, is an inspiration. A look back at how cycling has been at the center of a life well-lived is a worthy read. As she says, “All my bicycles stories are happy, fun… I have not had a bad experience." READ MORE
Intersection / Facility Focus

This month's intersection/facility focus features the intersection of S. Lemay Ave. and Riverside Ave. An important North/South corridor for East Fort Collins, we are interested to learn more about your experience navigating this area of Fort Collins. Have you experienced conflict or felt unsafe at this intersection? We invite you to take the following survey as we work to improve the overall safety of our streets and improve overall bicycle infrastructure connectivity. Your voice matters!
In our February issue, we conducted the same survey and posed the same questions for the Hickory St, College Ave, and Conifer St. intersection. Thank you to those who responded. READ RESULTS SUMMARY

Business Partner Profile

Membership Business Partners are business members of BFC, who also provide a special incentive (i.e. offer, discount or perk) for our individual and family members.

This month we want to highlight and want to thank Membership Business Partner: Velofix

Velofix is a mobile bike repair serving the Fort Collins area. Scheduling service is as simple as 1) You Book (an appointment online or via phone), 2) They Fix (your bike at the time and place you schedule), 3) You Ride (saving time so you can ride more). And, BFC members who are new to Velofix receive 10% off any Basic or Major tune-up.

BFC is also especially grateful to Velofix as a founding sponsor of our Wish for Wheels Foco program that began last year with the goal to provide a new bike & helmet to every second-grader in PSD's Title 1 elementary schools.
