Greetings, AFSCME family,

We were honored to represent you as Local 2620’s elected delegates at the recent AFSCME International Convention.

Throughout the week, we participated in the business of our International Union, including the election of AFSCME’s International President and Secretary-Treasurer, consideration of more than 80 resolutions, several constitutional amendments, and review of more than 20 Judicial Panel appeals.

We also attended committee meetings, workshops, and educational sessions on topics such as stewardship, organizing, finances, leadership, advocacy, and member representation. By attending different sessions, we brought back a broader range of ideas and information that can benefit our Local.

Our delegation included both first-time and returning delegates. For all of us, the convention was an important reminder that Local 2620 is part of a much larger union. While we may represent a small portion of AFSCME’s overall membership, our participation gives Local 2620 a voice.

We were especially proud to see fellow delegate Sonia Ruiz address the full convention from the floor, ensuring that Local 2620 was heard before delegates from across the country.

The convention was also an opportunity to meet members from other locals and councils, exchange ideas, learn from their experiences, and build relationships that can strengthen our work here in California.

As delegates, we understand that our responsibility does not end when the convention is over. We were elected to represent you, and we believe the knowledge, experiences, and connections we gained should come back to the membership.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to represent Local 2620.

We participated. We learned. We voted. And we were proud to represent you.

In solidarity,

Your Local 2620 Convention Delegates
