Local Artists Revisits what Resiliency Means to them
The 2021 Members’ Show at Krasl Art Center reflects how our community has adapted through the most uncertain of times.
Thursday, November 11, 2021. ST. JOSEPH, MICH.– Krasl Art Center (KAC) is thrilled to invite the community to share their artworks on resiliency for the upcoming exhibition, on view December 4, 2021 - January 17, 2022. In fall 2019, KAC began exploring the theme of resiliency through art. This theme continued into KAC’s annual Members’ Show as local and regional artists shared their own definitions of resilience alongside their work. A mere two years stand between the 2019 and 2021 exhibitions, but a global pandemic has emphasized the importance of resiliency each and every day.

For the winter 2021 Members’ Exhibition, KAC members are invited to shed new light on an important and persistent theme. Resiliency Redux reexamines the relevance of art in contributing to wellness - in our individual lives, at work, in family groups, and as a society. Not just a redo, Resiliency Redux asks both artists and visitors alike to consider how our definitions of resiliency have changed since this theme was first explored in KAC’s 2019 Members’ Exhibition, and imagine what revival looks like for a resilient community.

Artists are invited to submit one new artwork of their making addressing the exhibition theme. All media, styles, and skillsets are accepted. Collaborative efforts are encouraged and performance pieces will be considered.

Not a member? Not a problem. Join the KAC family when you drop off your artwork November 26 - 28, 11 AM - 5 PM. There is only one size requirement: artworks must be able to fit through KAC’s front doors. All mediums and levels of expertise are welcome. More information, artist application forms, and KAC membership information is all available at krasl.org.
