A Rolling Moss Gathers No Stones
This article originally appeared in the Tamar Dowsers newsletter, and appears here by kind permission
Former BSD Director, John Moss, has been a stalwart and a fixture of the dowsing community for a generation. As expected, his talk was very well attended - and his presence was greeted with much warmth.
Although his role has tended to be in the engine room of modern dowsing, this talk demonstrated (if that were needed) that he is no mean practitioner in his own right. His insights have been both acquired and personal, and it was a delight to add him to this season’s hall of dowsing notables zooming for the benefit of the five-group consortium.
The Experience of Dowsing Ancient Churches
A talk for the Devon, Trencrom, Tamar, Somerset and Thames Valley Dowsing Groups

The oldest of our churches are veritable gold mines of information and experience for dowsers of all types. Almost all pre-reformation Christian buildings are built over the sacred sites of their Pagan antecedents. Indeed, Pope Gregory I instructed his missionaries and evangelists to do just that. For example, Montmartre in Paris was originally Mons Martis, the Mount of Mars, but was re-interpreted as Mons Martyris, the Mountain of the Martyr. However, there are many more accessible locations closer to home, such as the church at Alton Priors in Wiltshire, with its trap door displaying the megaliths under the floorboards. But, as John Moss so rightly encouraged us - don’t take his word for it, get out there and dowse it for yourself. It has always been one of his core messages.

John has had the huge advantage, over the last three decades, of having worked with many of the well-known and highly respected dowsers of modern times. From this experience, he has been able to appreciate the complexities and the nuances of the dowser’s craft, and synthesised that input into a rounded understanding which is very much his own. This talk about ancient churches was a classic crystallisation of how a deeper appreciation of the timeless underlying principles of dowsing can be translated into a practical appreciation of the manifestation of subtle energies and sensations, in real time.

Before we even get the tools out, John encourages any dowser to first take in the site. Don’t just jump out of the car and rush in. Carry out the protocols of permission; walk around the area; get in touch with it; greet and get to know the spirit of place - they are usually very welcoming, but they may not take kindly to being taken for granted.

John usually starts a dowsing investigation with finding the various water lines and features. Water is not just the essence of the dowser’s craft, but it is a fundamental component of any sacred site. The trademark layout of water and earth energy lines in any given church - indeed at any sacred site - will tell you a lot about the purpose and the history of it.

Where earth energy and water lines cross in conjunction, we have what is known as a power centre. Anyone with a smidgeon of dowsing experience can pick this up as a physical feeling, but in case you need a prompt, it’s just in front of the altar - unless, of course, the altar has been moved back a bit over the years - and suddenly we are already into church history and the development of religious architecture. Having spent many years living in Gloucestershire, John was able to illustrate many of his discoveries by relating them to one of his favourite churches at Kilpeck, South Herefordshire.
With a dowsing-friendly warden and Diocese, and a building steeped in church and pre-Christian symbolism, it has been an ideal location for this purpose. John shared his diagrams of how the water and earth energy lines framed the construction and evolution of the building, which was valuable in itself for those less experienced in such matters.

He explained how these energies interact with dowsers, visitors and the congregation; how standing on the power centre (and indeed, in the pulpit) could expand the aura of anyone doing so with awareness; how the font was carefully sited, and described the adverse impact of moving it without thought, as has happened elsewhere; how his colleague, Dr Jim Lyons, had dowsed stacked toroids (doughnut-shaped energy patterns) above the font - and then there is the North Door.

In so many churches, north doors have been blocked up, bricked up or removed. Known as the ‘Devil’s door’ (a clue there?), it is mooted that this entrance was once used by Pagans - though why they should be visiting a Christian church is not explained. John’s theory, backed up by his dowsing, is that the north door was built to allow the detrimental energy, scoured out by all the beneficial lines and vortices, to leave the building and to drain away to be recycled - such processes are always dynamic, always in balance.

On the advice of dowsing legends, Ann and Roy Proctor, he installed just such an energy drain for the stone circle he and his wife Jill built in their garden in the Forest of Dean. It is a classic case of a subtle energy feature, dowsed as a psychic phenomenon, being built into a physical structure.

Co-incidence is a strange thing. Just these last couple of weeks, a new generation of earth energy dowsers has started looking into energy drains in the landscape. It’s all part of the interweaving tapestry of information.

John’s association with Kilpeck has been preserved on video, when a BBC team made a film about understanding Church architecture, at the same time that John was leading a dowsing course there. The resulting DVD Churches - How to Read Them is still available - and the cameo of the surprised presenter, Richard Taylor, dowsing for the first time, is a rare example of such an event being caught on mainstream camera.

John was also able to illustrate some of these water and energy features with reference to churches in his native Cornwall.

One interesting point was that although just about all older churches have an easily identifiable template of earth energy and water lines, a few host other, quite significant, energy lines that seem to just pass through without interacting with the sacred footprint. For example, Towednack church (of Ross and Demelza Poldark’s TV fame, original series) exhibits this phenomenon.

Occasionally, churches have physically separated bell towers (as at Gunwalloe on The Lizard). Here, the power centre, fuelled by Hamish Miller’s Apollo and Athena lines, is under the tower - while the adjacent church has its own distinct energy matrix.

John also mentioned the deserted church of Merther, officially declared a ruin in 1962, as an example where the energies of a building have become weakened by lack of attention. So much of the strength and vitality of churches and their predecessors is in the interaction between the site and its visitors.

Not everyone will go to a church to pray, and even John with his life-long fascination with the buildings makes no pretext to be a Christian. But the very presence of people, who bring their own energy and (usually benevolent) intent to these places, draws in the consciousness of the surrounding etheric environment - they bring it to life.

Many thanks to John for such an engaging talk which was evidently very well received. The questions and discussion afterwards could clearly have gone on all evening but, given John’s recent health issues, Gwynn was wise to draw proceedings to a close while we were all still winning!

Earth Energies
Healthy & Wise News

Paul Craddock's Spring '21 version of Healthy and Wise News contains some interesting information, and with permission I include the following .

" Well, thankfully the spring is finally here! Maybe time to think about dowsing expeditions again? With that in mind, I have an article about the results of dowsing research I undertook in Wales many years ago which has helped me investigate sites around the country since. However, it's important to bear in mind the energy can be very helpful to one’s health as well as detrimental when it is out of balance. So, there will always be a place for Earth healers and Geopathic stress practitioners!

For those of you who downloaded and read the free copies of my two books - Therapy for your Mind, and Dowsing for Beginners Home Study Course - and found them helpful or interesting, it would help spread the word if you would be so kind as to leave a review on Amazon, thank you! LEY LINE SYSTEM REPORT
By Paul Craddock

I wrote this report in the 1980’s after spending about 6 months surveying a small part of Mid Wales in the Northern part of Cardigan Bay. I had read the two books listed in this report on dowsing Earth energies and was inspired to investigate the large number of ancient standing stones, stone circles, stone lines and mounds in the area where I found my self living at that time. I was attempting to discover why ancient man had constructed what appeared to be the remains of some sort of ancient energy system and what were its uses. I wanted to share my findings with other dowsers.

This is a general report on the conclusions reached by research and survey of the remains of the Ley Energy system on the Cambrian coast mid Wales on both sides of the Mawddach estuary next to Barmouth and Fairbourne. The remains of the Ley system comprised of standing stones, stone circles, mounds and stone chambers and other markers. On the Fairbourne side of the estuary all the standing stones were charged with Earth Energy and were conducting energy lines. On the other side whilst there was an abundance of standing stones (but) there was no energy present. On investigation I found that the two stone circles that were originally supplying the stones with Earth Energy had sunk into the marshy ground. The stone circles were located and found to be still live in the ground but not able to transmit on their power to the lines of standing stones in their vicinity. The survey was carried out using various dowsing techniques.

STANDING STONES

Stones act as relay stations by storing a charge from a line to give power to relay the line (energy) to the next stone (station). A stone will lose its charge if an energy line ceases to pass through it or if its charge has not been "fixed". See "Ley Lines Their Nature and Properties" by J Havlock Fidler 1983.

The power of the stones determines the power of the line.

The stones collect their energy from one point then transmit it down the line from stone to stone, in most cases joining the Ley grid on roughly the same principle and possible size as the present British electric national grid system.

Standing stones do not irrigate or give power to the land.

It requires two charged stones in line to transmit a line of energy. One charged stone isolated will only radiate energy around itself in a circular band.

A slab shaped standing stone cannot transmit a line with out assistance from other stones.

Charged stones must be in a precise line if they are to relay energy lines to each other.

Where two charged stones are in line (within a certain distance) there will be a line of power between them. If a third stone is placed directly in line within a certain distance depending on the power of the stones (and in turn the line) a line will flow to this third stone and charge it. However, if there is no point of attachment from stone one or two no line will radiate from the two stones (1 & 2).

Standing stones do not need to be partly buried to be effective unless they are tapping an underground energy source.

Stone Cairns (mounds of small stones) can be used to replace standing stones and are just as effective.

Standing stones may have bands of energy present, which are well documented by various authors.

Quartz acts as a neutralizer. For example, if you place sufficient quartz on a charged standing stone, the stone will be removed from the Ley Energy grid system. When the quartz is removed from the stone it rejoins the system.

UNDERGROUND ENERGY SOURCE OR SPRING

An underground energy source is tapped or connected by one stone above (part buried), which in turn charges another stone in its field or aura forming a line of charge between them. This could be the start of an energy Ley Line.

An energy spring can also be connected by a stone already on an existing energy Ley line, thus boosting the power of the Line and in turn the energy grid.

A stone connecting an underground energy source or spring must be partly buried, normally one third underground.

Stone circles were placed over energy springs. In most cases only one stone is directly over the energy spring. Stone circles do not amplify the power but the lines of power flow to all the stones forming a circuit around the circle allowing the energy source to connect with other energy sources, through interconnecting energy Ley Lines from other stone circles.

Energy sources or springs are found at crossing energy streams, which are positive and negative in polarity. These energy streams flow underground and in many cases are carried by water. The energy is brought to the surface by partly burying a stone above. The stone will then become an energy conductor. For more details on energy streams see "The Sun and The Serpent" by Hamish Miller And Paul Broadhurst. 1989

THE NATURE AND PROPERTIES OF ENERGY LEY LINES

An Energy Ley is a line of power travelling in a straight line between two charged points, normally standing stones or Cairns.

Britain has the remains of a grid system of Ley Energy Lines all interconnecting on a similar principal as the modern British national grid system. The system was built thousands of years ago.

An energy Ley line is made up of two energies, it has a positive and a negative charge. The positive charge is represented by the number 666 and has the Sun as a symbol. The negative charge is represented by the number 1080 and has the moon as a symbol see The New View Over Atlantis by John Michell 1983. The two energies fuse together in the same way as negative and positive electricity, it has been given a number of different names in different cultures. In ancient times the two numbers representing the negative and positive energies (1080 and 666) were added to give the number of fusion 1746. Today the fused energy is known as Orgone energy, Prana Energy, Chi or Life force/vital Energy. For the remainder of this report, it will be called Ley Energy.

Ley Energy is the vital energy, which all living organisms need to live on Earth from the lowest plant life to humans.

Ley Energy has a number of uses these include healing, life giving, health and wellbeing and has an occult or magical significance.

Stonewalls interfere with Ley Energy Lines but do not stop them. Fences with a 35mm or less Gap can stop them (see Ley Lines their Nature and Properties by J.H. Fidler). Mirrors can reflect and stop Energy Ley Lines.

Ley Energy is related to electromagnetism in some way and the Earth's south and north poles.

Chamber mounds are often built on Ley Lines to store Ley Energy; these chambers are first lined with inorganic substance then alternate layers of inorganic and organic materials. These mounds act much like a modern-day battery, but store Ley Energy rather than electricity.

'Hill Forts' were not Hill Forts; they were built as part of the Ley System. Ley Energy was trapped in the enclosure on the hill and probably had the same use as chamber mounds.

Energy Ley Lines travel only above ground as described in this report.

Energy Ley Lines cannot connect into the energy grid when crossing over each other without a stone.

ENERGY LEY LINE EXPERIMENTS

The following experiments are to support this report. These experiments will use tested dowsing methods by experienced dowsers.

Experiments for standing stones

Build a Cairn (mound of stones) or stone if possible, on a known Energy Ley Line.

Measure the strength of the line before and after building the cairn/stone.

Measure the charge in the cairn/stone after erection then again after 48 hours. During erection handle the stone/s lightly to avoid fixing a personal charge.

Test quartz by placing it on a live standing stone and take measurements of the charge on the line and stone before and after placing the quartz.

Experiment for energy springs/source and nature and properties of Energy Ley Lines

Find an underground energy spring/source, which should be a negative and positive energy flow crossing and fusing into Ley Energy.

Erect a stone on it making sure the stone is one-third under ground.

Check for a charge on the stone, if a charge is obtained continue with this experiment.

Erect a second stone in the first stone’s energy field or aura thus charging the second stone. There should now be a line of force between the two stones.

Erect a third stone in a precise line with the two stones at a distance of about 20 feet depending on the degree of power being used and the size of the stones. A line of power should flow from stones one and two to charge the third stone forming the start of an Energy Ley Line. Test charges after 48 hours then weekly.

DANGER

Take care to isolate power from existing Energy Ley Lines and any other points which might act as conductors.

Sheet metal or wire with a gap less than 35mm will stop a line. To neutralize a stone, place a small block of quartz on top.

HOW TO MEASURE EARTH LEY ENERGY

This information is intended to supplement this report and is of use to experienced dowsers only.

The Ley Energy is measured using the same terms and laws used when measuring electricity.

Volts are pressure. Amps are the quantity of Ley Energy Units passing a given point. One unit of Ley Energy is one Amp.

To measure volts (pressure) and amps (quantity) we use a pendulum, the length of the pendulum is important not the weight.

VOLTS (pressure)
The length of the pendulum is 600mm/60cm, the pendulum is rotated over a ruler with a mm scale up to 800mm, the reading off the ruler is then doubled. So 10mm is equal to 20volts not 10volts, 100mm is 200volts and so on. Measurements of up to 1600 volts can be taken this way. For voltages over 1600 use the inch scale, 1-inch equals 1000v, half an inch is equal to 500v. The inch can be divided into units of 125 volts if required.

AMPS (quantity)
The length of the string is 300mm/30cm. The pendulum is gyrated over a given point for ten seconds. The total number of gyrations in 10 seconds gives the quantity/number of amps. For above 60 amps up to 600 amps use the same length of string but 1 gyration is now equal to 10amps.

WATTS (total power)
To find the total power find Watts. Volts X Amps = Watts.
1000Watts = 1Kilo Watt. Because the wattage is normally very high when dealing with Ley Energy wattage is normally expressed in kilo watts (kw).

A 10% error must be allowed for on all measurements.
It is possible to take measurements on site, or from photographs. I prefer the latter method. The dowser uses the photograph to tune in to the stone concerned. When measuring the line between the stone the on-site method is recommended.

Some figures for comparison
Average human power capacity 520volts 21 amps 10.92 Kilo Watts.

Energy Ley Line from a stone circle (Arthog mid Wales) 8000v 190a 1520kw

Stone conducting power from the earth on the above circle 27, 000v 640a 280kw

Strong Ley Line but in need of repair (stones missing/fallen) 17,000v 170a 2890kw

Small stone (3 foot) tapping energy for Energy Ley Line 19000v 160a 3040kw
Large stone tapping power 640a 36000v 23040kw

Spirituality

Members of the SSIG really enjoyed Sue Watts Cutler’s talk about Mithraism at our April meeting. Sue began by explaining the context for this esoteric religion before describing the reintegration of the soul through various stages and that the popular image found in Mithraic temples provided an allegorical representation of the conscious internal landscape.

The various animals depicted, their position in the picture and relationship were highly significant and revealed knowledge beyond the rational. The fusion of various cultural references gave the initiate a rich visual template for their own inner journey. Sue also gave us a similar explanation of the symbolism in the representation of Saturn and there was also time for a mediation. A big thank you to Sue for her excellent talk.

Next time Chris Tonge will be talking to us on a more personal note about where his own questing has taken him. His talk is entitled ‘From Dragons to Revelation’ and it will be on Wednesday 5th May at 11.00am.
If you would like to join the SSIG to explore these topics or share something of your own experiences into consciousness or spirituality please get in touch with me kate.tudorhall@gmail.com

Water

The Intelligence of Water…

Following on from positive feedback from the YouTube link in Ced’s last newsletter, I have been ‘encouraged’ to let you know a bit about my own experimentation into the realms of The Intelligence of Water – I hope this does encourage some of you to ‘have a go’ yourselves!

I first heard about Veda Austin’s work during a Zoom talk to Devon Dowsers (via Somerset Dowsers) in March this year. I believe that Sian Wilson was instrumental in providing the initial lead – thank you Sian!

I have been interested in Masaru Emoto’s work for a few years, but it always felt a bit remote – something you could read about and be amazed by, but not do – I prefer to do things!! So, I was inspired by Veda’s talk and ordered my own petri dishes from eBay and I have had a few attempts at her experiment.

During the talk Veda showed us how to use photos, music etc. to ‘inform’ the water, but as with Dowsing you can try your own ideas – the oceans are the limit!

  • You can try freezing different types of water: spring, healing well, tap, sea etc. etc.

  • You can try placing symbols under the dish, blessing the water, using colour, vibration, crystals etc.

Veda even experimented with ‘dog bowl water’ and got a picture of a dog in the ice!!! Veda is trying to get replication of results to strengthen the scientific aspect.

If you want to have a go, you will need to find a level space in your freezer and work out how long it takes to get water to the partially frozen state that’s required by the experiment (my freezer took longer than Veda’s) then you have to quickly photograph the results before the ice melts!!!

In 10 minutes you could have completed your experiment – how cool is that?

My first experiment was with a ‘mat’ I place under my water filter jug – it has a water crystal and Aum symbol – on the other side is the flower of life symbol (trying to cover all bases… - yes I know it’s upside down).

Glass petri dish on mat

The process is:
Set intent, then freeze the water
View the frozen water
Interpret results

You may or may not agree!!

So, yes, it is open to interpretation and maybe we see what we want to see, but by repeating the process we will get more evidence and in the meantime it’s a fun thing to try – I think that kids will love doing it too!

If you want to get more involved Veda has also set up a private Facebook group, for genuine people that are interested in using this technique and willing to share their experiences:

You can also view her website, for further information: https://www.vedaaustin.com/

The guide to her Step by Step process is $30, via her website, but it’s free if you order her book.
You can pre-order the book on Amazon: amazon.co.uk/Secret-Intelligence-Water (to be published May 2021): Kindle version £14.28 – Hardcover version £48.35

Dowsing for water in Africa
Following the announcement, in issue 65, of our intention to send water dowsers Guy Hudson and Linda Fentum to Zambia to train local people how to more accurately find the water they so desperately need, we wanted to update you on progress.

We have had further discussions with Village Water who have agreed arrangements with their local partners in Zambia to enable our water dowsers to undertake their training works.

However, we have been advised by Village Water that due to increased risks from Covid combined with predicted widespread unrest following the Zambian elections in August, to wait until next year to implement our plans.
We are still hoping to involve the BSD in our fund raising strategy and re-establish the connection between the two organisations.

Until this has been agreed, and we have a safe and secure place to accept and hold the donations, we ask you to be patient in funding this exciting project that will employ dowsing to benefit people much less fortunate than ourselves.

The amazing work that Village Water does in Africa can be seen at villagewater.org

Many thanks in advance!
