A
t the BSD’s recent Way Forward meeting in Worcester, there was a call for people to put themselves forward as members of the BSD Council/Trustees.
As a result a number of people are in the process of doing exactly that, and have supplied the following information about themselves.
Chris Quartermaine
I started dowsing when I was 13, and after a break I became seriously interested about 25 years ago. Over the years I have developed my skills, and am now an experienced house dowser.
On top of that, my wife and I also have been running regular day workshops for beginners to learn dowsing at our home near Chester, which have been very successful.
About 6 years ago we expanded this to also run a weekend house dowsing course. To promote these, I regularly do a stall at mind body spirit shows locally. Recently I have also become a practitioner of SCC World, which is a dowsing-based health and well-being programme based on charts, which comes from Hungary.
I also ran a health food retail business for about 40 years (sold about 18 months ago), and so I have an extensive knowledge of herbs and supplements, dietary matters etc, etc.
Although we are not running a local group, we are planning this year to do refresher courses for the many people we have taught, and this may develop into something more. There is a local group run by Peter Taylor near Mold.
Guy Hudson
Physicist and engineer with several hundred dowsed successful water wells. Founder of the Dowsing Research Group. Twice elected onto BSD Council. Taught dozens to water dowse on his own courses including workshops at the BSD annual conference.
A founding trustee of Village Water - a charity that has brought water hygiene and sanitation to nearly 200,000 people in Zambia. Management consultant for problem solving on large IT systems. Electro sensitive and an authority on Electromagnetic hygiene.
My vision for the BSD (or its replacement) is from the grass roots to actively and effectively serve, support and promote Dowsing in all its forms in the UK. By supporting training, specific interests: water finding, geomancy, earth energies, health, research, especially all the local groups - and this with the intelligent use of the internet.
It was how we made Village Water such a success - by listening very carefully to what people out in the field wanted and provided just that. I love the BSD - many, many of my dearest friends over the years I have met thorough the BSD and some of my best adventures came about because of the BSD.

I would love to (
supply information
), but I have dowsing work stacked up which I cannot ignore, feel free to put something in… I come from Ashbourne, Derbyshire, I have been consciously dowsing since I was 12. My main talent seems to be emotional/spiritual, but I can dowse just about anything anywhere...my weakness is finding lost objects.
What I am really interested in at the moment is how dowsing can inform us as to what is going on energetically in and around us, and help us to heal ourselves and our natural environment, which so needs our love and respect. I would like to help people to see that all things living, such as trees, and not living such as stones, have an energy and 'soul' which means that they are not trivial objects to be treated casually or contemptuously by us humans. As dowsers, we should embrace the 'management' who is love, truth and light
.
Anthony Whitehouse
I am a new member of the British Society of Dowsers with little experience of dowsing in my earlier life. However I have a great respect for 'all things dowsing' and a real desire for this to become an important and accepted part of everyday life.
My dowsing skill is best described as 'latent and developing' much like the place of dowsing in these times. I will put my weight behind any efforts to bring caring and sensitive approaches to the affairs of people and planet. As such I find it distressing to see the turmoil and difficulty that the BSD is currently facing. If I can help in any way to heal past divisions and promote an active growing and healthy national dowsing organisation then I will.
My relevant CV is not extensive. I have worked in the Information Technology world for many years, am now retired and have always been a keen proponent of meditation, yoga, spirituality and the natural world. My main qualification for helping the BSD move forwards is a strong sense of 'caring cooperation' which is clearly needed in these stressful times.

I have indeed put my name forward as a trustee, although I intend this a temporary position due to my other commitments, but I do hope to help form a structure that the BSD can go forward with.
Paul Syrett
My name is Paul Syrett and for those who don’t know me, I am the chair of Slimbridge Dowsing Group for nearly 2 years now, a very successful local dowsing group (LDG) and I am a member of the BSD.
My dowsing background spans all facets of the dowsing spectrum and I am an intuitive healer, geomancer, teacher and coach, helping people with their own personal spiritual journeys.
My business background though is in technology, service delivery and business transformation where for 30 years I worked for organisations like M&S, Network Rail, The Environment Agency, BT and MCI WorldCom leading, directing and delivering multi £Million business, organisational, technological delivery, change and transformation. In support of this I have also developed excellent presentational, speaker and media skills from working around the globe.
I attended my first BSD Spring symposium this April as part of the “call to arms” and saw first-hand the need for leadership and experience in business transformation, Technology delivery and an understanding of what is needed first hand in “the community”. What was refreshing was to see the love and passion that there was from the members present to make a positive difference and take the BSD forward and upwards.
It is on that basis that I have put myself forward to help revitalise and re-engage the BSD to become a fit for purpose society/organisation that helps supports, promotes and develops dowsing and the dowsing community in all its forms and guises.
