This week’s meeting of Malvern Dowsers received a presentation setting out a potential framework for Dowsing and Healing.
The talk drew on the work of a number of leading practitioners, and highlighted some the key elements of their work.

These are my personal thoughts below… I will give suggestions of what is badly needed.
1. The 4 SIGs to be regenerated again. This will help to boost members indirectly and bring in much needed funds.
2. Create the Dowsing Today Magazine as a smaller version in black and white sized A5 as it was previously as it should be cheaper to produce and encourage people to join by having 4 magazines per year instead of three big glossy magazines. I believe some people have mentioned getting rid of the magazine to save costs. What you need to remember is that not everyone are internet savvy and do not even own a computer or ipad so by getting rid of the magazine you could end up losing more money again and the idea of this project is not to lose money but to make money and gain members. Members look forward to receiving their magazines as many members cannot always go to congress or symposiums but they do look forward to their magazine to keep with what is going on within the BSD. If the BSD cannot get a volunteer to do the editing of the Dowsing Today Magazine then the BSD will have to appoint and pay for someone to do this job.
3. New website altogether. At least similar to the previous website we had before, at least we could understand and find what we were looking for.
4. Bring back the Professional Register and make it a prominent link on the website homepage.
5. Increase the potential for tutors to teach the art of dowsers on all 4 sides of dowsing. Bring back the Tutors Register.
6. The Office & Training Manager. For this position it needs to pay for itself. Organising the workshops for the BSD a lot better especially promoting events.
7. Involve the ground roots more. The BSD council have taken decisions in the past without consulting the membership which has been proven detrimental to the BSD.
8. Bring back the traditional V rod symbol we had before it went haywire. When we had the V rod the membership was over 1500 members now its down to 600. That is partly where they went wrong as everyone knew what the V rod stood for.
9. Bring back the awards for outstanding achievement given at the AGM
These were all active within the BSD up to the end of say 2014/15 or thereabouts. These are just my personal suggestions and thoughts.
Kind Regards

Let's imagine another scenario. It’s 2020, and Dowsing has just been discovered and some excited youngsters decide to pursue their interest and start a group.
They set up a website - several of them are brilliant at this, and they meet up on local field trips, with talks in the winter.
Someone volunteers to manage a membership list. Local groups form and keep in touch via the website and run dowsing courses.
Each member or local group can ask questions or give information via a forum on the web site [or maybe on Facebook (or equivalent)]. Periodically, local groups get together and run a conference that any dowser can attend.
The difference between this new set up and the old BSD, is that it is run by members, for the members and mostly, we all listen to each other.

I don't really understand enough about the existing structure of the organisation to see what I could help with. It seemed like it might be good to change the overall way the BSD is run - a new structure, new website, etc?
I would have welcomed the chance to explore ways of keeping the membership but under a new system, as it seemed clear that the existing system has not been appropriate for several years. It was nice to see that there were quite a few recent members, many keen to help create something new.
