Learn about Community Supported Agriculture at a Film and Talk Story Night 
Come paddle with the Same Canoe Crew this Saturday, September 15th at Iwa Arts and Cafe for Iwa's monthly film night. This free event is sponsored by Same Canoe.  
Real Dirt
All members of the community are invited to come view the humorous and thought provoking "The Real Dirt on Farmer John" and learn about what Community Supported Agriculture is and how you can support you local farmers directly.
Featured speakers will include Maureen Datta with Adaptations Fresh Feast CSA and Wesley and Sarah with Sundog Bread CSA.  
Find out how it takes a village to make a sandwich! 

Doors open at 6:45pm and the Real Dirt begins at 7pm.
Iwa will be offering a locally sourced greens, grains and plant based protein bowl and a select drink and pastry menu. Enjoy a wholesome dinner, film and conversation.

Hawai'i Seed Fest: Local Seeds for Local Needs; Honalo in Upcountry Kona 

Come be part of local community conversations on the hows and whys of growing seeds specifically adapted for Hawai'i. Check out variety trials in progress, learn how to conduct successful trials in your garden, talk story with local seed growers, and meet others in your community interested in improving local food security. The cost to attend is $8, and registration may be completed online at or by calling The Kohala Center at 808-887-6411.

Food is Medicine Farm Tour
Come join us in Hawi for a fun farm tour at beautiful Lokahi Garden Sanctuary. Tour includes food and medicinal crops, sweeping ocean views, and visitors take home a product sample. Please arrive by 1:45 for registration as tour begins at 2. (Plan on a 1.5 hr drive if coming from Kona.)
Tickets for tour include the product sampler; $20 a person or $30 per couple (one sampler).
RSVP required by email to by 10/3.

Tea Farm Open House and Tour
Mauna Kea Tea's 'Open Farm Day' is an annual event held in appreciation of nature's life supporting beauty and its ability to enrich human lives.  Look, taste, and experience the tea farm free of charge on this day, as we present a farm tour, tea tastings, and good company for the purpose of sharing in the experience of tea.
This year their  Open Farm Day theme is 'Tasting Natural Teas'. Come join the tour to learn about Natural production and enjoy tasting the pure products of Mauna Kea's clean growing philosophy.

Reception will be at 10am with a Farm Tour at 10:30 with workshop and tastings to follow.
The event is free and open to the public, so be sure to bring your friends.  Please let them know that you're planning to attend by 10/16 so they can plan accordingly.
Same Canoe members can qualify for a shopping coupon good the day of the tour. Tour earns points in the Passport program. Please sign up for this special at by 10/16.
