Resident Custodian
(Alexandria House)
Portsmouth Metropolitan Housing Authority is seeking applicants for the position of Resident Custodian. The Resident Custodian is a live-in employee responsible for the safe, decent and sanitary upkeep of the buildings, grounds and equipment where assigned. Responds to call-outs for emergency repairs and notifies other emergency services if needed; "on-call" 24 hours per day except when on approved leave. Residency in the Alexandria House is an absolute condition of employment, amenities include: free rent and paid utilities (basic telephone service, heat, electricity and water) including an hourly wage. PMHA owns and operates 886 low-rent apartments and homes throughout Scioto County, including the Alexandria House located at 811 Findlay Street. PMHA conducts background checks on potential employees and the successful candidate will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen. A job description is available upon request. In an effort to assist regional economic development efforts, the Portsmouth Area Chamber of Commerce is encouraging all members to utilize the www.OhioMeansJobs.com website to list their current job openings. By listing available openings on the state-sponsored job matching website, data that supports economic development proposal preparation as well as retention and expansion opportunities can be extracted that will document hiring trends, worker skill sets desired by regional employers, competitiveness by detailed industry and a variety of other indicators of progress.

 

OhioMeansJobs.com is a website that gives Ohio employers the option to search the resumes of millions of job seekers confidentially, or advertise their job opening to the general public. The service is free to Ohio employers; however, out-of-state employers can also benefit.

 

Members can post their job openings openings in one of the following ways:

 

  • Any member with a Federal Employer Identification Number and an Ohio Department of Taxation Withholding Number can register to post their openings. Once registered, members can also search for talent on www.OhioMeansJobs.com from the convenience of their own offices.

  • Members who utilize their company website for recruitment purposes can submit the website address to the Portsmouth Area Chamber of Commerce and the site will be added as a site that automatically pulls into the www.OhioMeansJobs.com so that the information only has to be added once. Please submit your website URL to lcarver@portsmouth.org and it will be forwarded for inclusion on the website. Members who pay Ohio Withholding taxes can still register on www.OhioMeansJobs.com in order to search resumes at their leisure.

  • Out-of-State members can post their job openings on the www.OhioMeansJobs.com website by contacting an OhioMeansJobs Center in any county in the State of Ohio. A staff person at the center will have the ability to search resumes on the website as well as provide other recruitment and prescreening services.

  • If a member would prefer assistance with posting their openings on the www.OhioMeansJobs.com website or if the member would prefer to remain confidential, job openings can be listed through an OhioMeansJobs Center in any county in the State of Ohio. And, again, a staff person at the center will be able to provide a variety of recruitment and prescreening services.

 

The Portsmouth Area Chamber of Commerce remains committed to assisting members in as many ways possible and will continue to distribute job openings with other members within the network as an additional method of advertisement.
