Upcoming Events!

Run for Their Lives:

Global run/walk events calling for the immediate release of the hostages held by Hamas

Sunday, July 14, 10 am, Belmont Shore

Our member Dr. Mark Dressner brought us this announcement in support of the hostages:

Please come to Long Beach/Orange County's first weekly 18-minute walk/run, so many of which take place weekly all over the world, to bring attention to the hostages and bring them home now. This is the only message. This is not political and does not promote any ideology -- just release the hostages and bring them home.

Our first event will be this Sunday, July 14, at 10 am at the start of the beach walk path at Alamitos Bay in Belmont Shore (where Bayshore meets Ocean). Please wear a red shirt. If you have a hostage poster, please bring it. Also, if you have flags from any of the countries that hostages are from, please bring them.

Invite friends and family. This is a humanitarian issue so everyone is invited. One does not need to be Jewish. For more information, see Run for Their Lives.

I hope to see you there!

Powerful Film Screening and Discussion

Sunday, August 4, 2 pm, Temple Beth Ohr

15721 Rosecrans Ave., La Mirada, CA 90638

Please join National Council of Jewish Women – Greater Long Beach & West Orange County, Temple Beth Ohr Sisterhood, Women of Beth David and Temple Beth Tikvah Sisterhood for a screening and discussion of Screams Before Silence, a powerful new documentary led by Sheryl Sandberg.

Months after the October 7th Hamas attack on Israel, does the world know what really happened on that horrific day? Do you?

This film captures first-person testimony from survivors, first responders, eyewitnesses, released hostages, forensic experts, and advocates. Their harrowing accounts reveal the uncompromising truth that Hamas used rape, assault, and mutilation in a brutal rampage of gender-based violence. The world needs to know so that this brutality never happens again. We must bear witness. Join us for the screening and discussion of this important piece.

Refreshments will be served.

RSVP Here at or call (714) 521-6765.

Overflow parking is available at the Methodist Church across the street.

Please note: Screams Before Silence contains accounts of sexual violence against women. Due to the sensitivity of subject matter, adults only please.  Also, we encourage you to take care of your mental and emotional health; attendees will be welcome to exit the room at any time.

“For the victims and eyewitnesses who survived, we must demand justice and hold their tormentors and rapists accountable for these crimes against humanity. And for those who did not survive, we must raise our voices, because they cannot.” — Sheryl Sandberg
