W.I.N. Partnership Teaches High Demand Skills to A.L. Brown Students

Kannapolis City Schools, Wayne Brothers Inc., and Centralina Workforce Development Board NextGen were recently awarded the 2019 Governor's NCWorks Award of Distinction for their innovative collaboration to teach high demand skills to students at A.L. Brown High School. The three organizations created the W.I.N. Partnership: Workforce Innovation Nextgeneration , which allows students to take part in pre-apprenticeships at Wayne Brothers, Inc.

We recently joined the North Carolina Manufacturing Institute (NCMI) and Centralina Workforce Development Board for a tour of Ketchie Inc. in Concord. Ketchie is a woman-owned machine shop that has been in operation for over 71 years. The company's owner, Courtney Ketchie-Silver, led the presentation and discussed ways to prepare women for careers in manufacturing.
