QTBIPOC Mental Health & Recovery:

A Complex Mental Health Journey

QTBIPOC (Queer and Trans Black, Indigenous, People of Color) face unique mental health challenges. Many of these individuals must navigate not only disparities in mental health support but also the impact of racial and gender trauma. Some must also deal with the complexities of intersectionality while living in poverty.


We spoke with a QTBIPOC person currently living in Fairfield County about their mental health journey. Read the interview to learn more about their experience living with Bipolar II Disorder and Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD), and how they’ve overcome the challenges of poverty, racial trauma, and treatment disparities.
