Kentec Communications Inc. (KCI) located in Sterling, Colorado, opened in 1983 as an alphanumeric paging service including two-way radio sales and repair. Over the next 40 years, KCI grew from an alphanumeric paging service to a leading wireless and fiber optic Internet service provider. Kent Sager started KCI back in 1983 then Chip Powell purchased KCI in 2010 and owned it until selling it to Midwest Broadband Opportunities in April of 2024.
In April of 2024, KCI was acquired by Midwest Broadband Opportunities (MBO).
