It's time for a fresh start!
Return your overdue items and we'll clear your account!
Exciting news: your London Public Library Board has permanently eliminated overdue fines! Return any overdue items you might have at home before the end of the year and we will clear your account of outstanding fines and replacement charges.

Effective immediately, you will no longer be charged overdue fines when you return an item past its due date and outstanding overdue fines have been removed from your account. You still need to return your items so that others may use them and replacement charges will apply if your items are not returned or are lost or damaged.

We've also introduced automatic renewals! Items are automatically renewed up to 3 times unless there is a hold on the item.

Why Eliminate Overdue Fines?

Libraries across North America are ending the practice of charging overdue fines, recognizing that fines are a barrier to accessing much-needed Library resources and that borrowers continue to return items and increase their use of Library resources when fines are eliminated. We believe each and every member of our community should be able to use the Library freely and fully, with dignity and without fear of overdue fines, regardless of their financial status.

Since announcing our new Fine Free policy, we've heard from our community how this change will positively impact lives.

In the words of author Emma Donoghue, a London Public Library patron, "I'm so impressed that LPL has made this progressive, evidence-based policy change to be even more inclusive at a time when the pandemic is causing so much anxiety, unemployment, financial troubles and disrupted education."

To demonstrate her support, Emma has made a generous donation to London Public Library to help us remove barriers and increase access to valuable Library resources. Thank you, Emma!

Library Friends Celebrate A New Beginning
In an incredible gesture, the hardworking Friends of the London Public Library have made a donation of $75,000 to London Public Library's A New Beginning campaign. This generous gift will ensure that the Library's valuable resources and programs are available to all, especially at this challenging time when access to information, literacy resources and enrichment are needed more than ever.
