McAvoy 5-Miler Set for Sept. 2
Registration is underway for the 34th Annual Robert C. McAvoy Labor Day 5-Mile Race. The run will take place this Monday, September 2 on the boardwalk at Laurelton Blvd. Registration takes place at 6:30 am; race begins at 8:00 am.

Labor Day Closings
In observance of Labor Day, City Hall, the Magnolia Center, Recreation Center and Ice Arena will be closed on Monday, September 2. LB Buses will be running on a holiday schedule. Alternate side of the street parking will be suspended. There will be regular residential and commercial sanitation pickup. Have a happy and healthy Labor Day, Long Beach!

School's Open - Drive Carefully
With the start of the new school year, the Long Beach Police Department and AAA Northeast have launched its annual School’s Open-Drive Carefully Campaign, reminding drivers to be extra careful behind the wheel as children end their summer vacations and head back to school.

Movies on the Beach
The final Movie Night on the Beach will take place Friday, September 6 on Edwards Blvd beach featuring JAWS.
Previews will begin at dusk (approx 7:30pm). Don't forget your beach chair and why not stop at one of the concessions or a local restaurant before the movie!!

The City of Long Beach in cooperation with Skudin Surf will hold the King & Queen of the Beach Kids Surf Contest in memory of Daniel Bobis and Brian Ward on Sunday, September 8, 2024 on Riverside Blvd beach. Registration is now open.

The Department of Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce that applications for our extensive line-up of fall programs is now available. There is truly something for everyone. We will be offering opportunities for our youth in areas such as Arts & Crafts, Baseball, Soccer, Football, Volleyball, Pickleball, Yoga and more.
