πŸŽ† Get Ready for the Electric Light Parade! πŸŽ†


Join us this Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 6:00pm, for the much-anticipated Electric Light Paradeβ€”a magical display of creativity and community spirit! Antique cars, fire trucks, floats and bicycles will be wrapped in Christmas lights for this delightful holiday event. Awards will be given to the most festive. Restaurants will be offering specials before & after the parade.


To ensure everyone's safety and enjoyment, please be aware of the following traffic and parking adjustments.


πŸš— Parking Restrictions: No parking on West Beech St from Nevada Ave to Grand Blvd between 2:00 pm and 8:00 pm. Vehicles left will be towed at the owner's expense. 


πŸš— Parking: Parking is available at the Long Beach Catholic School lot via West Broadway at New York Avenue or the LIRR Station and take the shuttle.


🚌 Shuttle Service: Hop on the shuttle buses running every 15 minutes from the LIRR starting at 4:30 pm for easy access to the parade.


🚧 Street Closures: West Beech Street will be closed to all vehicles from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Residents can cross at Connecticut Ave to reach Oceanview before the parade kicks off. Buses will be rerouted via W Park Ave.


🚫 Municipal Lot Access: No access to parking lots at Connecticut Ave and Virginia Ave during the parade hours.


πŸŽ‰ Parade Staging: Participants will assemble on Nevada Ave and Ohio Ave from 4:30 pm, stepping off at 6:00 pm. Residents may experience limited access during this time.

GRAND MENORAH LIGHTING - DECEMBER 26

Join the Beaches Jewish Community for a joyous celebration of Chanukah at the Grand Menorah Lighting event, set to take place in Kennedy Plaza, right in front of City Hall, on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at 6:00 pm. This special occasion, sponsored by Long Beach Nursing and Rehabilitation will feature the lighting of Long Island's largest Menorah, symbolizing the festival's spirit of light and unity. City officials, along with local community organizations, will partake in the festivities, making it a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community. Enjoy traditional Chanukah treats, music, and activities for all ages, as we celebrate this meaningful holiday and its message of hope and resilience. All are welcome to share in the festive cheer and cultural richness of this special event. The Menorah will be lit each night in Kennedy Plaza.

CHRISTMAS CLOSINGS

In observance of Christmas Eve, Tuesday, December 24, the Ice Arena will be closed. The Recreation and Magnolia Centers will close at 4pm.


On Christmas Day, Wednesday, December 25, City Hall, the Recreation Center, the Magnolia Center and Ice Arena will be closed. Buses will be running on a holiday schedule. There will be Regular Sanitation pickup.

RESIDENT PARKING PERMITS

The City Clerk’s office has announced that 2025 Resident Parking Permits go on sale Monday, December 16th. Permits may be purchased at the Clerk’s office, Room 307 in City Hall Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm or by mail. The Clerk's office will be open until 7pm on December 17th.
