The Gawlicki Family Foundation & HPL = more support for our youth.

|
We're so happy to share that we received a $145,000 grant from the Gawlicki Family Foundation to expand our Leap Into Learning early literacy program!
“This generous gift will allow us to bring early literacy instruction and resources directly to our city’s children in their neighborhoods as well as sharing best practices to positively impact children’s long-term reading outcomes with parents and caregivers,” — HPL President and CEO Bridget E. Quinn
Launching in 2022-23, our new effort will bring weekly literacy programming to eight home child care providers in Hartford. Additionally, we will provide participants with resources to create their own libraries. All participants will attend Family Literacy Nights at HPL locations that will include food, storytelling, reading and take-home books. Learn more HERE.
Many, many thanks to the Gawlicki Family Foundation!

"...this novel brilliantly juxtaposes a lighthearted story of young Black love with a deft reminder that such beauty has often been violently seized from Black people, and that these instances deserve remembrance." —Publishers Weekly, starred review
