A Snapshot in Time by Bob Gates

Master Fuzz B is seen here winning the 1991 Inaugural Handicap for owner/trainer John Keegan. Fuzz had lifetime earnings of just under $100,000 and enjoyed a five-year racing career at the Downs. His overall stats had him with 11 wins, 26 seconds and 20 thirds from 96 starts. He spent the latter part of his time on the track running in claiming races where he more than held his own. In 1992 he won 2, placed second 3-times and third once, from 11 starts, in 93 he won 3, placed second 4-times and had 4 thirds from 15 starts and in 1994 he had a win, 3 seconds and 3 thirds from his final 10 races. International Fireworks Expected in Belmont Derby

On America's 250th birthday, there will be some fireworks from a lively international battle at Saratoga Race Course. A field of 10, with two talented overseas shippers, will square off July 4 in the expected final running at the Spa of the $750,000 Belmont Derby (G1T) for 3-year-olds.

With the race slated to return home to Belmont Park next year, Saturday's renewal features an evenly matched contingent of American runners reenacting the Revolutionary War against formidable rivals who have traveled across the Atlantic Ocean.

Equibase Standings: Stakes Wins Elevate Magnitude, Immersive, and Other Standouts

Last weekend, there were several stakes-rich racecards across North America, most prominently at Churchill Downs on June 27. Results from those six stakes under the Twin Spires brought significant changes to earnings leaderboards in several divisions, as tabulated by Equibase.

On June 2, 2010, Tyrone Nelson and Vicky Baze combined for a truly unique accomplishment! Was it a record? We suspect it was, and while we can't say for certain, if it wasn't a record, it was certainly one of horse racing's most unusual oddities.
