We offer our sincere gratitude and New Year's wishes as we look back on our multitude of successes and people around the globe who have supported Kybele this past year.

It takes hundreds of hours of commitment on the part of volunteers, thousands of dollars of contributions from donors and participants, and countless experience from medical professionals to make a difference in the lives of the women and children we serve.

2019
  • Kybele had 81 medical professionals participate in 2019, making our total participation in Kybele medical programs to 967.

  • Kybele conducted one site visit to Rwanda and had multiple program visits in 5 other countries (Ukraine, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, and Ghana).

  • Kybele Team Leaders presented at the following national/international medical conferences: Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH), Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology (SOAP), Post Graduate Assembly In Anesthesiology (PGA), Gates Foundation Grand Challenges Meeting, Indoanesthesia Conference, 2019 Ghana National Newborn Strategy and Action Plan, National Institutes of Health (NIH) 12th Annual Conference Dissemination and Implementation in Health, as well as other conferences and meetings.

  • Kybele sponsored 9 medical professionals to visit the United States to attend medical conferences and "observationships" at various US medical centers. These individuals came from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Macedonia, Uganda, and Ghana.

  • Kybele launched the prestigious Saving Lives at Birth Award funded by Grand Challenges Canada to scale our innovative obstetric triage system that dramatically reduces wait time and improves maternal and neonatal healthcare across Ghana. Out of 500 applicants, Kybele was one of only three selected for award. The two-year initiative has a total grant and match funding of nearly $1M.

  • Youth members of "The Bridge Project" conducted another visit to Ghana to continue their support of education in several schools by donating 18 suitcases filled with books and school supplies.

  • Kybele Ghana Team Member, Dr. Nate Tighe won the American Society of Anesthesia (ASA) resident humanitarian award.

  • Kybele published our 2nd textbook on Obstetric Anesthesia in Turkey.

  • Kybele volunteers have now donated approximately $5.25 million in educational materials, medication and equipment to host countries.

  • Kybele continues to conduct research to ensure that we are improving outcomes and using our resources wisely. Kybele is dedicated to publishing high quality, peer-reviewed research sharing our challenges and successes with the global health community. These publications can be found on our website.

  • Kybele welcomed 2 new board members.
You can help us continue the momentum in 2020
with your invaluable donations.

If you have not made a financial contribution in 2019 or perhaps have never made a contribution, please consider a year-end gift to Kybele of $25, $50, $100 or more. The successes listed above would not happen without your help and the support of many others. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve women and infants around the world.
