Memorials

With the Saints give rest, O Christ, to the soul of Your servant where there is no pain,

nor sorrow, nor suffering; but life everlasting.

Μετά των Αγίων ανάπαυσον, Χριστέ, τας ψυχάς των δούλων σου,

ένθα ουκ έστι πόνος, ου λύπη, ου στεναγμός, αλλά ζωή ατελεύτητος.

2023 Stewardship as of Friday, May 19th

We are grateful to the 279 Stewards, for their committed amount of $140.473,50

THANK YOU!!!

Stewardship is our grateful and loving response to God’s love, grace and gifts to us. It is our personal commitment to God and His Church to ensure its vitality and continuous growth by joyfully and sacrificially offering of our talents, time and treasures that we have received from Him. Stewardship puts our faith in action and demonstrates our trust in God.

A rich man is not one who has much, but one who gives much. For what he gives away remains his forever. -St John Chrysostom

Money becomes a sacrament when it is offered to God. It becomes a visible expression of our commitment, faith and love for Jesus. Once given to God, our gifts are consecrated by the Holy Spirit, who translates them into works of mercy that bring glory to God.

Give as you would if an angel awaited your gift at the door. Give as you would if tomorrow found you where the giving was over. Give as you would to the Master if you met His loving look. Give as you would of your substance as if His hand your offering took.

As Christian Stewards we are called to give back to God from the “first fruits” of our labor. We support our parish and her ministries in an intentional way and not with only what it left after everything else has been taken care of.

ATTENTION: Please return your 2023 Stewardship Commitment Card to the Church Office ASAP.

What does spring cleaning have to do with Project HOPE?

We started off the year strong and have already donated bags of non-perishable items and baby formula. As you are doing your spring cleaning, look for any items (from the list below) in your cabinets that you may not use before they expire and consider donating them to our Project HOPE mission. Also, if you have any baby formula that you no longer need, please consider donating as this is in high demand right now.  Feel free to drop these items in the bin next to the multi-purpose room in our fellowship hall.

There are also bags hanging from the bins that include a list of items (see below) that you can use for your next shopping trip.

More importantly, if you know of a family in need or you are in need, please help yourself to items in the bins.

As a reminder, if you have no time to shop, contact Fannie Theodore at [email protected] or 708.899.8007 or Dimitri Katsamberis at [email protected] to find out how you can donate or sponsor a bag.

For more information about Project HOPE, visit:

https://chicago.goarch.org/ministry/hope/

Mission: The mission of Humanitarian Outreach and Philanthropic Engagement (HOPE) is to partner with parishes in the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago (“Metropolis”) and with local networks to help provide food security and stable housing to those in need.
