2022 Stewardship of

The Greek Orthodox Church of St. Demetrios

Stewardship as of Friday November 11, 2022

444 Stewards

STEWARDSHIP

Stewardship is our grateful and loving response to God’s love, grace and gifts to us. It is our personal commitment to God and His Church to ensure its vitality and continuous growth by joyfully and sacrificially offering of our talents, time and treasures that we have received from Him. Stewardship puts our faith in action and demonstrates our trust in God.

"A little girl noticed that after the collection was taken in a certain church, the ushers brought it up to the altar. She whispered to her mother, “Mommy, how do they get the money up to heaven?” The mother replied, “The church doesn’t send the money to heaven, but uses it to bring heaven down to us.” That mother could not have given a better answer. For the purpose of the Church is to get God’s heaven into each one of us. Jesus said, “The Kingdom of God is within you.”

The Compassionate Friends Outreach Ministry of Saint Demetrios would like to thank Philoptochos and all those parishioners who donated to our annual baby bottle drive. This year we raised over $600 to help support the Martha and Mary Maternity Ministry. Under the guidance of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago, this ministry is a group of Orthodox Christians dedicated to helping pregnant women in need of support. The organization provides housing referrals, material needs and personalized assistance to any pregnant woman who is seeking help. Thank you all for your generous donations.

This summer our parish family has been able to donate more than 80 bags of non-perishable items to food pantries across the Chicagoland area. This would not have been possible without your support!

As everyone continues to struggle with inflation and rising food prices, our food pantries have seen a shocking increase in demand. Please continue to support Project HOPE by donating any amount of the items listed below or preferably bag(s) full of one of each of the items.

No time to shop?  Contact Fannie Theodore at [email protected] or 708.899.8007 or Dimitri Katsamberis at [email protected] to find out how you can donate or sponsor a bag.
