We are grateful to The Hamilton Family Charitable Trust Board of Directors for their generous support of this consequential project: “Investing in the Soil = An Investment in Our Families & Communities."

These funds enabled us to:

Introduce 350 students (ages 5-13), 40 parents, 42 staff & 10 volunteers to engaging Farm-based experiences, nutritional education & Farm tours with a compelling Farmer/Seasonal Educator

Offer ongoing Farm produce giveaways for students & families

Help to prepare, sustain & utilize 16 children’s garden container beds for hands-on student encounters

Set in motion a healthier, more promising future for our students & their families

What a fabulous All Staff Day with partners Cradles to Crayons Philadelphia! 110 Methodist Services’ staff sorted, assembled & packed bulk clothing, hats & gloves, pj’s & socks, books & school supplies! Thank you, C2C, for allowing us to directly contribute to the important work you do! Our entire staff spoke of experiencing one of the best All Staff Days to date! Can’t wait to do it again!

Let’s vote! Methodist Services recently hosted a Voter Registration & Education Event. Staff & residents updated addresses & helped confirm polling locations for folks who visited the tables. Good news: most of the people we met were already registered to vote!

We appreciate our longstanding partners, Doylestown UMC, Foster Angels on Earth, Inc. & Cradles to Crayons. In total, we have received 880 beautiful backpacks full of school supplies + extra composition books, markers & other materials! Special thanks to Bob Coombe, Terry Miller & Lucinda Veit for their support of school uniforms & additional supplies. So grateful!

Methodist Services’ instrumental collaboration with The Junior League of Philadelphia's “Apple a Day Healthy Living Initiative: Kids in the Kitchen Program” kicked off a 6-week Fall series with Out of School Time students in 3 different locations. Students and staff made Strawberry Orange Spritzers! Next up: No-Bake Energy Balls! Yum!

Sending deep gratitude to sisters Terry Miller & Holly Smith for their very generous support of a Bridge House Double Room “In Memory of Big Ed Howard (their Father)!” They joined our President, Kathrine Martin, for lunch. What a perfect afternoon!

To honor a loved one with 1 of the 3 remaining Double Rooms, please reach out to cboughter@methodistservices.org

What a lovely, memorable visit! Two former Methodist Home for Children/Methodist Services staff members stopped by: Joan Shumate & Jean Lisk. Joan was a part of the Executive Team for many years at Methodist; Jean was our Nurse. Please come visit us again!

From Heritage Farm - Farm Manager, Ryan Curran:

"Cool mornings have had a welcome return to Methodist Services’ Heritage Farm as summer fades away. By this point all field planting has occurred & our job is to continue to coddle what is left growing. This will be the last week of harvesting tomatoes. We will flip the one standing high tunnel from tomato production & plant salad greens which will help sustain our supply of mixed greens through December.

In other parts of the Farm, fields are being put to rest for the season with the application of cover crops. Every Monday, we continue to walk the Farm to see what crops are still available for distribution. In the month of October, alone, we have been able to distribute close to 1,500 lbs of food, which would be about $5,300 at market value."

Shout out to our Philadelphia Eagles! Go Birds! Your Friends at Methodist Services!
