Methodist Services' Community Partners have been so generous in providing holiday meals for residents & program participants.

Penn Towne Chapter of The Links, Inc.: provided 40 full Thanksgiving dinners to be distributed to Monument Village & Fairway Commons households plus Hope Bridge Vine residents.

The Gateway School: assembled and provided 40 Thanksgiving bags containing canned goods & non-perishables that will be delivered to our Community Schools program participants and used at Hope Bridge Ogden, Quads Youth & Bridge House residents' community Thanksgiving dinners.

Philabundance: provided 60 turkeys, 30 chickens & assorted canned goods for our Community Schools program participants, Monument Village & Fairway Commons households, and Inglis Methodist Gardens, Hope Bridge Ogden, Fresh Start & Quads residents.

PA Convention Center: provided full Thanksgiving dinners for many on-campus families.

Truly takes a Village! Thanks to these good stewards for sharing the holiday spirit.

Sending great gratitude to our good friends at NGA Hatfield/Lansdale! Each year they donate & deliver 12 dozen new winter coats for Methodist Services’ children. Right on time! Brrrrr! Thank you so much!

Twenty parents & students attended Edward Gideon School’s First Family Forum: “Understanding School Attendance Policies & Procedures.” Lunch, refreshments & raffles were onsite. Methodist Services is proud to be part of the City of Philadelphia’s Community Schools Program!

A big shout out to Foster Love who mobilized area businesses to assemble and distribute a wide cross section of donations to Methodist Services. We are thankful to Foster Love for connecting their corporate partners to Methodist Services.

This past year, New York Life Insurance, Jazz Pharmaceuticals and Foster Love assembled & delivered over 150 Sweet Cases which were each personalized and contained new blankets, stuffed animals and various personal care items. In addition, Charles River created and delivered 40 STEM activity boxes, while Comcast donated 27 awesome skateboards.

Recently, Community Counseling Services' (CCS) art therapist completed a 6-week Therapeutic Art Group (the 4th offered to date) open to any CCS client, free of cost. The 90 minute sessions are free form. Participants reported the sessions were powerful and "helped them express thoughts and feelings when words weren't enough." During the most recent series, participants were asked to artistically express their experiences and the "Positivity Tapestry" was the result!

Students, parents & staff thoroughly enjoyed themselves at Methodist Services' 2024 Harvest Parade! Does it get any better than this?!

Methodist Services’ Family Reunification Program & Shelter Plus Care Teams recently hosted a Share & Show engagement activity. Staff gathered for fun, decompressing & bonding with a Halloween taco bar, spooky mocktails & games. Another afternoon of festive engagement! Great place to work!

From Heritage Farm - Farm Manager, Ryan Curran:

"If it has felt dry to anyone, don’t feel crazy. October 28, 2024 marked 30 consecutive days without any measurable rainfall. This broke a record set back in 1874 in Philadelphia. It will most likely end up as the driest October in Philadelphia history. What does that mean for Methodist Services' Heritage Farm? There have been beautiful sunny Fall days but we also needed much more time to irrigate than we have in previous autumns. Generally, we have relied on storms and rain to help water the cover crop previously sowed. This year, we have been much more dependent on our irrigation system.

Anecdotally, it seems as if the warm, dry conditions have helped mitigate disease and pest pressure on the crops and have led to beautiful vegetables in the final push of the season. As we approach Thanksgiving, we will continue to eke out what’s left before putting the Farm to bed for the winter."
