We are blessed! Holiday year-end donors contributed thousands of toys, gifts, gift cards & clothing to help make 2023 the most abundant ever! Supporters donated more than $12,000 in cash and an additional $7,500 in gift cards. Methodist received the following from long-term community partners: individualized child/teen-requested Holiday Wish List Bags stocked with toys, clothing & gifts: Foster Angels on Earth (800+), Penn Towne Chapter of The Links (40), and Maron Marvel Law Firm (50).
Parkesburg UMC’s Pastor & Church Leadership set in motion “Christmas in July.” Parkesburg’s United Methodists in Action church congregants purchased, assembled & delivered 144 Personal Care Bags for Methodist Services’ residents. Parkesburg UMC and Faith Community UMC also delivered several hundred Christmas toys & gifts for children, teens & families.
Methodist Staff arranged drop offs & pickups with 85 churches, nonprofits, other organizations and individual donors. For several years now, former residents and families of former residents have continued to purchase generous gifts and gift cards for entire residences to “pay back the kindnesses that we and our family members have received.”

Building upon the success of recent pilot projects, Methodist Services was selected to become a repeat host site for The Junior League of Philadelphia’s Kids in the Kitchen initiative. This ongoing, multi-season, 12-week project introduces students to healthy nutrition, food prep & cooking classes, taught by Methodist Services' Education staff and supported by community partner food & program supplies. Methodist Services’ Kids in the Kitchen (KITK) OST students especially enjoyed preparing The Junior League of Philadelphia’s KITK hummus & avocado toast recipes. | |
Home for the Holidays: Methodist Services' military father, stationed in Italy, surprised his daughter at her pre-school after a year away. WPVI Channel 6 was there to highlight this homecoming. Mom, Arianna Blaylock, is a Community Schools Family Services Specialist employed by Methodist Services. Her daughter, Elani, attends Educare Learning Center. Elani’s father and Arianna’s fiancée, Daché Talbert, is in the US Army, and is stationed in Italy. Daché will return to Italy for an additional two years after his holiday visit. From Heritage Farm - Farm Manager, Ryan Curran:
"Winter at Heritage Farm is a time for rest, reflection, to consider what worked, what didn't and how to improve the crop plan for 2024. It's a good time to catch up on projects that weren't able to be done during the growing season (fixing the fence line, mending the high tunnels, getting the tractor serviced, cleaning the walk-in cooler and packing area) and maybe do some reading..."
