WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH HONOREE-KATIE LEE LAYMAN
Next up in our Women’s History Month series is Katie Lee Layman for her amazing track and running achievements!

Katie won six CCAA track and field titles, was the runner-up in the NCAA Championships 10,000-meter final in 2003, she also finished 5th in the nation in the 5K twice, 5th in the 10K once, and finished 5th and 6th place in the 3K.

Katie held the school record in the 3,000, 5,000, and 10,000 meters upon her graduation, and remains the fastest 5,000-meter runner in school history. She is still the second fastest in school history in the 3,000 meters and seventh fastest in the 10,000.

She was inducted into the Chico State Athletics Hall of
Fame in 2017.

You can nominate someone for the series with this link.
Memorial Bike Ride for Steve Sumner
LET'S SADDLE UP FOR STEVE SUMNER
Please join The Crayon Initiative for the best bike ride of the year — held in lovin' memory of former John Baldwin parent, Steve Sumner. Steve sadly suddenly passed away last year while doing one of the activities he enjoyed; riding his bike.

A wonderful family man, husband, father, and instant lifelong friend, Steve was a driving force on the board of The Crayon Initiative with his ready smile and generous spirit that lit up the entire community.

We know he'd love to see you and your family out there on May 16th, having fun and raising money for the benefit of a cause he cherished: recycling old, unused crayons into new smiles for hospitalized kids.
For more details and to sign up, go to thecrayoninitiative.org/sumnerlovin
