Space to Think

We’re buzzing at the BIC about recent news that we’ve secured funding to deliver a range of business support initiatives. The UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) investment is a huge boost to Sunderland and will enable us to do more of what we love best – nurturing businesses in our communities. There’ll be inspiration and advice for anyone who’s ever dreamt of being their own boss, as well as support for businesses who have ambitions to grow, innovate and expand but don’t know where to turn or how to do it. Getting started with search engine optimisation (SEO) for your website? The BIC’s inhouse web specialist Chris Walker suggests this step-by-step tutorial to get your SEO strategy off the ground.

Headache with health and safety? Steph Drinkald has been part of the BIC’s Health and Safety Team for the past ten years and says the HSE (Health and Safety Executive) website is her go-to place for factual, easy-to-follow content.

Don’t be put off by the dreary design, Steph gives it top marks for: key points of the law, tools to create risk assessments, policies and procedures, up-to-date statistics and a free alert service on changes to the law. She’s also a big fan of the section on stress and mental health in the workplace and the store selling health and safety books and posters.

This transformative experience was designed to sharpen problem-solving abilities and enhance team building and leadership skills whilst demonstrating that every day people could join the Army Reserves.
