CAP Love Story Goes Airborne
“Sometimes, flying feels too godlike to be attained by man,” Orville Wright said. “Sometimes, the world from above seems too beautiful, too wonderful, too distant for human eyes to see ...”
But sometimes, heartstrings zing and the perfect person makes eye contact in an unlikely place – like Civil Air Patrol mission aircrew school.
Just ask Capt. Jenny Lynn Burnett and 1st Lt. Travis Carney of the California Wing. Both are CAP mission pilots.

CAP Marks 20 Years of Super Bowl Interceptions, Receives Media Attention
For 20 years now, CAP has helped the U.S. Air Force ensure the safety and security of airspace around the Super Bowl.
Aircrews from the Florida Wing had that honor this year, as participants in North American Aerospace Defense Command air defense exercises designed to protect Super Bowl LV’s airspace over Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay.
CAP's involvement in the exercises, known as Falcon Virgo, often results in publicity for the organization. That was the case again before the game on Feb. 7.

Alumna Col. Kim "KC" Campbell
Speaks at California Wing Cadet Programs
Virtual Conference
"I joined Civil Air Patrol when I was 12 years old. I made great friends, got to fly and learned some skills that helped me survive and succeed at the Air Force Academy and throughout my Air Force career. Last week, I got the opportunity to share some stories and lessons learned with CAP cadets at the California Wing Cadet Programs Conference. It was held virtually, but still a great opportunity to connect and share my experiences with the next generation of leaders."

'NHJ' Seeks Articles for CAP 80th Anniversary Issue
The Civil Air Patrol National Historical Journal editorial staff is seeking authors for its issue marking the organization's 80th anniversary, set for publication in July for the summer and fall.
Do you have a story to share that relates to CAP in the last 80 years? If not, the journal's staff has lots of topics to be researched. The staff wants to hear your topic requests and article ideas as they relate to CAP’s eight decades.
Having a scholarly article published in the NHJ is one of the suggested performance requirements for the CAP Historian Senior and Master ratings outlined in CAPP 40-110’s Historian specialty track. The NHJ welcomes feedback, questions, ideas and article submissions emailed to mhenderson@cap.gov.

The virtual gathering Feb. 16 was her first on the foundation board, which provides general support for CAP and its programs and missions, direct financial support to CAP’s operations and scholarships to CAP members.

NEW! 2020 Report to Congress and Wing Reports....
see what CAP has been doing in your state!
With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, CAP's innovative National Legislative Days effort is going virtual in 2021. Over the next two weeks, delegations from all 52 wings will meet online with their states' congressional leaders with the usual intent — to educate lawmakers about CAP's indispensable public service role as a congressionally chartered nonprofit Total Force partner of the U.S. Air Force.
Without the annual face-to-face meetings in Washington, D.C., the challenge will be to create that personal touch via virtual meetings. CAP delegations will be meeting many of their lawmakers for the first time, as nearly 300 legislators are new to Congress.
