Pulitzer Prize-Winning Author
Jake Halpern:

Welcome
to the
New World

Wednesday * February 10 * 7:00-8:00 PM
Virtual via Zoom
Author Jake Halpern with Naji Aldabaan and LVCC adult learner Adeebah Alnemar will discuss Welcome to the New World, a new full-length book based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning graphic journalism series that was featured in The New York Times.

Naji and his mother, Adeebah, fled the civil war in Syria, leaving behind members of their extended families and eventually reaching the U.S. on Election Day 2016. From the struggles to the triumphs of making a new life in the U.S., they will share their amazing journey. Jake will describe the process of producing the series in collaboration with illustrator Michael Sloan, and what he learned as he grew to know and bond with Naji and his family.

In addition to Welcome to the New World, Jake is the author of several
