Greetings!
Community Engagement in Bethel, Maine
By Mauli Sand
Several months ago, National Renewable Solutions (NRS) began developing a solar project near the western boundary of the state of Maine. Located just 3.5 miles east of the town center of Bethel, this project was aptly named the Bethel Solar Project. Led by the efforts of our Director of Solar, Brad Wilson, this project went from a dormant gravel pit to a fully permitted, interconnected, surveyed and designed 3MW solar development asset. Since then, NRS partnered with Summit Ridge Energy, which now owns 100% of the project. Construction has begun, and the Bethel Solar Project will soon be a source of clean energy for Maine energy customers.
While developing renewable energy projects may be the “outward facing” business of National Renewable Solutions, we believe engaging and building relationships with the people who live and work in our project communities is at the heart of what we do. In fact, many of us admit that it’s the part of our job that we love most. Typically, as we are in the throes of development work, we look for ways to invest in the communities where we develop projects to ensure everyone benefits from the project—not just those with solar panels or turbines spinning...Read more.

NRS believes in working with and supporting the community in which we develop our projects. Last month, NRS, on behalf of the Kerlin Rise and Antelope Ridge Projects, was honored to contribute to the United Way of Eastern NM to help supply heaters to families in need during winter within Quay, Curry, and Roosevelt counties in New Mexico.
Knowing food shelves are particularly in need during the holidays, we also had NRS Team members coordinate a canned food drive benefiting Matt 25 Hope Center in Clovis, NM.

In Colorado, a local landowner on the Sedgwick County Organized Recreation (SCOR) Board told us for their need of donations for their annual fundraiser held on New Year's Eve to raise funds for athletic-related projects within Sedgwick County. NRS was able to contribute, which helped fund prizes for the night's lucky winners.
“In a small town it is a blessing to see how many people contribute toward making projects happen. We truly appreciate all that came out to participate in the festivities, those that made donations toward the event, and to those who volunteered their time to make this event a success.”
– Kimberly Orth, Board Member of SCOR
NRS was only able to make these contributions through the suggestions from our landowners, and we appreciate their collaboration. We are always looking to partner with local organizations that benefit our project’s communities. We encourage our landowners to reach out to us for any future opportunities!

What do wind turbines talk about?
Nothing special. They just shoot the breeze.
